when upgrading for 1.3 to 2.0 did you remove the whole MP directory? Just doing a uninstall will not remove most of your files. I suggest removing the while MP directory... installing RC2.. then applying the latest CVS patch... That seems to have worked for me.

I have the exact same problem. Here are my findings:

-If I change music player from Windows Media Player 9 to DirectShow, the problems is solved. But using DirectShow as music player makes you loose some features like ffwd, rev and visualizations

-I've tried rolling Windows Media Player back from version 10 to version 9. Did not help.

    Just found something interesting.

When playing a mp3 with no cover art, the visualization is displayed in the mini window, and when stopping the music, this window stays, and won't go away

But when playing a mp3 that has album art, the mini window switches back and forth between show visualization and album art.

Now, if you stop the music when the visualization is showin, you still get the same error, but if you stop it when the album art is showin, the window goes away like it's supposed to.

Problem finally solved by doing the follwing:

    1. Uninstalling MP from control panel
    2. Deleting MP folder
    3. Installing MP 0.2.0.0 RC2
    4. Installing cvs-01-13-2006--22-29 BEFORE running setup MP
    5. Changing WMP9 to Directshow

For some reason, changing the music player before didn't solve the problem.
Now I don't see any visualization window at all but I suppose this is correct since their is no image to display.

I haven't tried the latest CVS yet.

Thanks to eveyone for their help. Now I'm going to explore the rest of MP.

I've tried the latest CVS, but it didn't fix it.

Indeed, using DirectShow is a solution, but with it comes a few other problems I don't see with WMP.

-3-4 second delay when playing mp3's that has album art
    -No ffwd or rewind possibilities
    -No visualizations

I am still unable to reproduce this problem. I have tried stopping it on the visualization and it still goes away. I have tried stopping it on the cover art... it still goes away. I am running the 1-20-2006 15-26 CVS.

I did a fresh install of RC2 and then loaded 1-13 on it. I then upgraded to 1-20-2006 -1-05 and that totally messed up my machine. I then loaded on the very next one 1-20 15-36 and everything seem so work fine. I have always been runing WMP9 as my player.

I don't think WMP10 is the problem, I use it and I am sure many others do with no problems like you are experiencing.

    Marcus.
