Hi guys,

thanks for your great program!
Waiting 0.2.3 final release (when?).

Anyway, here the solution.

This period I'm testing a new media player called "KMPlayer 2.9.3.1402 beta": it works without evident bugs and plays ANY format, also .flv videos downloaded from YouTube! And it is VERY fast: it can play ISO MP4s "direct" from CDs in my old Athlon XP 2200+ occuping the cpu only at 37%!

The program is freeware, has tons of settings (including useful fast deblocking...) and its codecs are directshow format (.ax): so why not integrate this codecs directly into media portal instead of download and install dozens of conflicting codecs?

You can find the program or contact the authors at this address: http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php

Now I'm trying to register this .ax codecs to see if Mediaportal can use them.

Thanks in advance for an answer.

Greetings from Italy.

N.B.
If you need a beta-tester let me know.

    Hello ppp,

there is no need to install dozens of codecs. I wonder where you read this. You just need one, FFDshow for example and maybe DScaler or MPV/MPA.

Anyway if you want to register .ax files just enter something like the following code in a command prompt:

    Code:
    regsvr32 c:\FILTERNAME.ax

It will show up in MediaPortal Configuration afterwards.

Thanks level20peon for your fast reply.
I know FFmpeg and tried it: anyway I have to say that codecs in KMPlayer are better and faster.
Even because FFmpeg didn't permit me to play .flv videos!
    Try it and see!

I was not talking about FFmpeg but FFDshow. It is able to playback .flv files.

What do you mean by "codecs are better and faster" ?

    Sorry, my mistake.
    FFDshow not FFmpeg.
For better I mean better quality, better speed, better usability and intuitive settings.
For faster I mean 100% usable without frame-loss even in my old athlon running at 650 Mhz.
    I say again: try it!
    Thanks.

There is no need for me to do so. Never change a running system ;)

Have you succeeded in registering your filters for MediaPortal ?

KMPlayer is really amazing, i'm very impressed... tons of features and easy to use. hopefully MP could have all of that features and power in a near future....

    regards,

KMPlayer is better than FFDshow... Just tested: it uses half cpu cicles than FFDshow showing the same video in the same machine.
I have been testing several versions of FFDshow and the latest ffdshow-rev1589_20071031_sse has just crashed like the older ones.
Still not succeeded in using KMPlayer filters for MediaPortal: registered regularly but difiicult to choose the right ones because I have a lot of filters in my system.
Anyway I think they can work.
    Any suggestion level20peon?

What are you trying to say ? You just don't find them in the mneu because you have too many filters installed ? I don't really get it.

EDIT: Well funny thing... I just had a look at KMPlayer and noticed that it uses libavcodec (and some mediasplitters). Libavcodec is integrated also in FFDShow. As a matter of fact it even is the STANDARD decoder after installing FFDshow. I don't know what your system looks like but if there are massive differences in speed and reliability between FFDshow and KMPlayer maybe something is configured wrong.
The other thing is that MediaPortal utilizes WMP so maybe this is the problem you have with MediaPortal in combination with FFDshow. Do you have the latest WMP version (11) ?

Compelled to uninstall FFDshow and unregister KMplayer codecs because crashed my Lifeview Trio program when trying to capture anything.
