Fan Art improvement

At first, congratulations for the program.

I think that FanArt feature is one of the most wished improvement by MyFilms users. I think it could be added to your program in this way:

a) Adding a tab for FanArt features.
b) Directory for store FanArt pictures.
c) Adding FanArt button to grab them and store.

The way of obtaining the data would be the following: You can use the API supplied by themoviedb (same as Movin pictures)
TMDb API Documentation | Movie.search.

I have built a grabber for ANT movies which works for me, but it would be perfect if it would be included in the same application.

Thanks for your feedback. The API for the MovieDB site seems easy enough - adding functionality like you describe should be possible.

But - and it's a big But - this would mean a double-movie-lookup - once for the data; once for the images. If every movie lookup worked first time this wouldn't be such a problem, but if the website returns more than one possible match for the movie, then you'd have to select the correct entry twice for each movie.

I believe that Titoftit is working on a new Internet grabber which will support fanart and multiple site downloads, but until then we'll have to keep doing it the old fashioned way!

the way i'm doing it is to first lookup the movie in imdb. then once the movie is identified with an imdb#, you use that to get the fan art:
TMDb API Documentation | Movie.imdbLookup
This way, you only have to verify the movie once.

Hi Guys,

I recently updated to 0.8.7 from a really ancient version that did not even do the lookups, but I have some problems getting the lookups to work properly.

My preferred script uses moviemeter.nl and generates the following error
1/12/2009 23:04 - ERROR : Error on Internet Lookup for 2008\Bangkok Dangerous .avi : Length cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: length

If I do the same import with the imdb script, it does work and does lookup, but includes the rootfolder name (d:\video is my root, video is included in the filename) resulting in "Video\Bangkok Dangerous.avi" as the name IMDB tries to match

Preferably I'd use moviemeter, if anyone would know how to get that one working? Alternatively, how can I tweak the settings so IMDB does use the filename and not full path and extension as the name? (if it imports the name correctly I can use the Ant movie catalog to get the data from Moviemeter)

Can you please confirm how you upgraded? The current 0.8.0 version is required from SourceForge as this contains all the latest .dll files etc. You can then upgrade to 0.8.7 using the .exe from this thread. There's also updated scripts for some movie sites here in this thread. I guess I really should get the updates packaged up into a full release again! If you haven't downloaded 0.8.0 from SourceForge then please do so and hopefully that will fix your problem.

Just so you know - the stripping of the filename from the path is done entirely by AMCUpdater, and not by the Internet scripts!

If a clean install doesn't fix the problem then please post your configuration file and I'll have a look. If you don't use config files then it'll be a file called 'AMC_DefaultSettings.xml' in the AMCUpdater folder.

I don't think anyone has asked for that, but what information could be grabbed from .nfo files? As far as I know there's no standard for how the contents of a .nfo file are formatted, so no easy way to read them programmatically?

Orion, I have 2 requests:

1- would it be possible to obtain the aspect ratio? It could be saved in the resolution field, with the format "AR (Resolution)" so we can sort by AR, sorting by resolution is useless for me.


2- There is a bug in the "folder name as group identifier" feature, it only work with some films as u can see in my attached files.
