You can also redirect your local ip to your external ip in Android hosts file ;) I think that would work :D

Or maybe in the future aMPdroid would allow us to specify 2 (one internal, one external) ip addresses for each host in settings ;)

The link is wrong for one, it's "http://[myhostname]:4321/GmaWebService/MediaAccessService/json/GetServiceDescription" now (see wiki). Links (and port) have changed with the latest version. I think dns entries should work fine, what doesn't work well in Android is resolving local network names (dhcp names).

Ok, I feel like I'm making progress:

    This works fine:
    http://192.168.x.x:4321/GmaWebService/MediaAccessService/json/GetServiceDescription

    This does not:
    http://[outside-IP]:4321/GmaWebService/MediaAccessService/json/GetServiceDescription

This is all from the browser, not from the android app.

This now feels like a problem with the router directing the port to the HTPC, however the port is routed just fine in the router's config...

Ideas will be highly appreciated... :D

    Solved!
It was a matter of changing the opened port in the firewall settings...

    Works great now, thanks!
