Re: AW: [Android] aMPdroid 0.8 - Streaming and more

my problem was the reconnect option (Verbindungswiederherstellung) if its off, all is okay!
Hi DieBagger,
my problem is also "fixed" when switching reconnect option (Verbindungswiederherstellung) off.

One other thing - as I manly play animes (out of mkv's) I normally use DLNA and MOBO PLayer as this combination is able to display the subtitles (when using softdecoding). When I do the same with your application I don't see them - is this related to the feature request to handle srt subtitles or is this something the transcoding is not able to handle (at themoment?). Would be great to have this (I beleive asking for subtitles out of mkv's in teh Android player is to much too ask for ;))
Embedded subtitles gave oxan quite some headaches because ffmpeg handles them poorly on transcoding. It all depends on how/when it will be implemented in the backend. Only then can we talk about adding support on the client.

If i delete an episode of a tv-series in MediaPortal the episode is still displayed in AmpDroid. In the MP-TVSeries plugin the episode is not displayed any longer. Could it be that this is a problem with the cache of ampdroid?
There's no caching atm (I disabled it because it caused too many issues), the problem is the the episode is most likely not deleted from the database, instead some sort of flag is set to indicate that the episode shouldn't be shown. This is something GmaWebservice has to handle.

Streaming videos works fine with MoboPlayer and/or VPlayer. But there is no way to jump to another position of the video. Fast-forward is also not possible. Will that be possible with Android 2.3?
    I use Ampdroid with a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and Android 2.2.
Are you streaming mkv files? We had ALOT of troubles with mkv files but we found a much better way to handle them now. There will be a new GmaWebservice release soon which will improve streaming performance quite a bit.

One thing I would still like to see fixed is the ability to start playback of movie ISO's (BD or DVD) and "Folder rips" from aMPdroid on the PC. I mentioned this a while back but you've been rather busy so I didn't hassle you about it anymore until now :D.

At the moment all these movie types appear nicely in aMPdroid under "Videos" but attempting to play them on the PC results in a black screen :(

All individual video files play back correctly.

Not sure how you currently go about starting playback on the PC? Is this a WifiRemote function? If so should I post this in that thread instead?

Sorry to quote myself but can someone please tell me if the above problem specific to my system or whether it's normal and if it's normal will there be a fix at some point?

I appreciate all the work that's being done on (and around) this project and fully understand that things need to be prioritised. All I'm asking for is to know if this can/ will work a some point so I know whether or not to move on.

Thanks in advance guys and all the best,

    Mick.

I'm not sure actually as I'm not using ISOs at all. Can you post your MediaPortal logs? If the screen turns black it seems that ampdroid did send the play command correctly so it's most likely something WifiRemote has to fix.

Hi, I'm looking to install this -latest- version but I've read that it would need enough of CPU power for the real time transcoding. My HTPC has an old Core2Duo that I have overclocked @ 3.6GHz, would that be enough or sould I better have a Quad core?

I have a Core2Duo @ 3GHz and that's enough for transcoding everything (even full hd source).

I believe now I have an Idea, why a lot of my Files in the "Series" Folder don't work. This happens only with Series that I have recorded for a long time. I had changed the name of some Record-files, and now the xml-File don't fit or it is not there.

It is possible that this is the mistake, so I can't stream it to my phone ?
Yeah, that's quite possible. Do you stream them using the Series view or the Recordings view? In the second case it won't work indeed as you changed the name, in the Generally, if you can't play anything in aMPdroid, it's a good idea to check if you can play it in MediaPortal. If it works in MediaPortal, then we've got a bug somewhere, else

    I'll look into this.

Fast forward (as in 2x or 4x speed) isn't possible yet, as ffmpeg doesn't implement an option do that correctly and it'll require a lot faster CPU.

When I do the same with your application I don't see them - is this related to the feature request to handle srt subtitles or is this something the transcoding is not able to handle (at themoment?). Like DieBagger said, subtitles are really awful. FFmpeg is unable to extract integrated subtitles, so that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. For MKVs we can extract them with mkvextract, but I'm not really fond of the idea to add another external dependency; and it takes quite some time (which results in not having subtitles the first 3 minutes or having to wait before a stream starts). As for external subtitles, we might adding that, but as there are also a lot of subtitles format we can only support a subset of them. SRT is the most common as far as I know, so we'll start with that.

(If anyone doesn't have received an answer from DieBagger or me yet, please post your question again as tracking questions in such a topic is a bit messy)

One of the flags is the field "HasLocalFiles" in tables "online_series" and "season". The field contains "0" if a serie is deleted.

Could you please send me your TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 file, together with an example of an episode that you've deleted and does show up in aMPdroid. I'm a bit confused now which field does what. PB is fine too, if you want to keep it private. Thanks!

    Hi Oxan,
you'll find the TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 file attached. The deleted episode is S01E01 from series "Der letzte Bulle". It was the only episode of the series in the database. The Series ID is "150751".
    Thank you
    Christoph
