AW: Re: AW: [Android] aMPdroid 0.8 - Streaming and more

When I do the same with your application I don't see them - is this related to the feature request to handle srt subtitles or is this something the transcoding is not able to handle (at themoment?). Would be great to have this (I beleive asking for subtitles out of mkv's in teh Android player is to much too ask for ;))
Like DieBagger said, subtitles are really awful. FFmpeg is unable to extract integrated subtitles, so that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. For MKVs we can extract them with mkvextract, but I'm not really fond of the idea to add another external dependency; and it takes quite some time (which results in not having subtitles the first 3 minutes or having to wait before a stream starts). As for external subtitles, we might adding that, but as there are also a lot of subtitles format we can only support a subset of them. SRT is the most common as far as I know, so we'll start with that.

(If anyone doesn't have received an answer from DieBagger or me yet, please post your question again as tracking questions in such a topic is a bit messy)[/QUOTE]

Seesm to be an real issue - I'm happy that MP is able toplay the Subtitles as it should (using SAF). When it comes to extracting I use this routine

Credits go to - Extracting and Converting MKV Subtitles » Visual Coding - Making programming look easy. ... subtitles/ - only one or two changes needed to be made to make it run.

in the exctractor.rb at line 62 I have changed the line to

    if lines.include? 'subtitles'

They call mkvextract, so that has the same problems as I described ;)

Ah - that's what you mean ;) - got you now. Well - Creating the srt's in a separate step shoudln't be the issue - but being able to show them via the Android player ...? Is this something which might be possible in teh future? Or so the transcoded stream is containing the subtitle so you can use Mobo Player to show them (This is why I have created the feature request to have always teh option to select a different player for all streams

    Yow,

i have update all my files (wifiremote,GMAweb-thingy and TVserver stuff). Most of my mediafiles i can now access, with one big exception: if i brows my musicfiles, i can get into the shares/folders, but when i press to select "artist", "albums", or "tracks" it gives an error: error loading, check your connection.

You ones told me to change something in the db-version , stated in the xml-file of MP. Which version has to be in those lines? At the moment it shows MusicDatabaseV12.db3. I use MP 1.1.3.0

Oooh and could u change the long-press for selecting play local, download etc, into one-click and then show the play/download-options? (or should i put this in the request-list?)

For MP 1.1.3 it's most probably MusicDatabaseV11.db3. You can take a look in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\databases, take the one that doesn't have a size of 0KB there. I'll take a look if we can't automatically select the right version in future versions.

    How about trying?

Re: AW: [Android] aMPdroid 0.8 - Streaming and more

One thing I would still like to see fixed is the ability to start playback of movie ISO's (BD or DVD) and "Folder rips" from aMPdroid on the PC. I mentioned this a while back but you've been rather busy so I didn't hassle you about it anymore until now :D.

At the moment all these movie types appear nicely in aMPdroid under "Videos" but attempting to play them on the PC results in a black screen :(

All individual video files play back correctly.

Not sure how you currently go about starting playback on the PC? Is this a WifiRemote function? If so should I post this in that thread instead?

Sorry to quote myself but can someone please tell me if the above problem specific to my system or whether it's normal and if it's normal will there be a fix at some point?

I appreciate all the work that's being done on (and around) this project and fully understand that things need to be prioritised. All I'm asking for is to know if this can/ will work a some point so I know whether or not to move on.

Thanks in advance guys and all the best,

    Mick.

I'm not sure actually as I'm not using ISOs at all. Can you post your MediaPortal logs? If the screen turns black it seems that ampdroid did send the play command correctly so it's most likely something WifiRemote has to fix.

    Hi DieBagger,

Yes. It does appear that "something" is being sent. I'll re-install later today and post the log.

Is "mediaportal.log" enough? Also, do you want it here or in the Wifiremote thread?

    Thanks for the answer.

    All the best,

    Mick.
