Great - may I also ask, would it be possible to bring the PC out of S3 sleep using the Android App?

    Thank you again

Depends on how you can wakeup a pc out of S3, I don't have much experience with that. Do you send a network packet like with Wake on Lan?

+1 Wake On Lan support :)

    7) Less important thing but with more future perspective: tablet layout. This is probably going to be the Android tablets year (with Honeycomb) and an app like this can be the most important reason to buy one. Have you start thinking about this? Which ideas do you have for the interface? Maybe you can contact with kiwijunglist to talk about this and he can help you with the design ;-) I'm thinking on a 3D wall (like in the Youtube app for honeycomb) for movies and series and.... wowwwwww, this can be absolutely amazing!
haha thanks, but I think diebadgers concept UI ideas are much better than mine!! :)

    *********************

As far as paid apps go / advertising... as a potential client/customer I would like to see

Trial version - Add free, Lasts 2 weeks with full functionality, then has limited functionality eg. can only use the remote part
Paid version - Maybe $2-$5 USD in price?

I think with trial version after the trial expires you should still be able to use the remote part, because there is a lot involved in installing the software on the PC and setting things up. You don't necessarily have to use the google market for the paid version, you could do the same thing that LauncherPro does and use Pay Pal + get a serial key that is tied to your google account.

    Amazing work

For the TV GUIDE / EPG View in addition to my concept you might want to have install / try out this free application as it uses an alternative method for displaying a tv guide, that works better on smaller screens, but displays a lot less information. Just adding additional ideas for your brain storming :)

TeeVoid - Android app on AppBrain

If you went with this style of view I think you should also have the option of clicking on a channel it would show you a listing for just that channel.

+1 Wake On Lan support :)
Seems in W7 you can wake a pc out of sleep with WOL packages so this is definately coming... Also planned is a way to actually start mp when the pc is running but no mediaportal.

Regarding the translations: I have extracted lot's of hardcoded strings already but there's still many to go... Once this is complete translating should be pretty straight forward, we can probably even use the MP translate tools...

I think if your network card supports it you can do wake on lan regardless of operating system. Starting mediaportal is another good idea.

    Hi,
    The project looks very promising!
I don't completly understand how the TV4Home part works, but would it be possible to add support for the For The Record TV client plugin with/without the alternativ ARGUS TV-server?
I don't know whether you are familiar with the plugin, but it is a sooo much more flexible DVR setup (rule based) :)
The developers are considering a mobile app themselves, but I think synergy is better than competing apps :)
For The Record - View topic - The future of Web Access

    cheers,
    Jacob

Regarding 4therecord: I personally don't use 4therecord so this isn't a big priority for me. They do have an api so it would be possible to add it later on (Or if someone else wants to add it). I try to design the interfaces of the app in a generic way so that api's can be exchanged later on without too much hassle.

Also I'm not really a fan of 4therecord because while they started (and profited a lot) of MediaPortal they are closed source, so none of their improvements benefits the MediaPortal sources. And what if everyone starts using their Argus server and development on our TvServer stops? Then they decide they want to monetize TvServer at some point and charge for the full version and all you have is another DvbViewer (and no open source alternative this time). So I don't care how much more flexible their recording setup is, I won't use it as a matter of principle...
