[...]Currently, the project it's only the parser for the site to get information, it can search and present the results, and get basic information about the series (I'm still working on parsing the character list and seiyuus)
I still have to figure out the database format that MP uses, and try making the GUI part of the plugin.. but i'll start later with that.

If anyone is interested in this plugin, i'll keep you posted about it's progress.

Comments and ideas for the plugin will be much appreciated :)
Maybe you could look at the MyTVSeries plugin and add this anime site you parse from as another source of info to that plugin. Might save you a lot of work better invested in improving the modularity and improved localization/personalization of myTVseries.

Thanks for the replies, i'll start a thread in the plugin section then.

Onkl, thanks for the info, yes, i thought of that too, but as i recall reading, the web parsing was hard coded in that project. (so will be mine :p)
Anyways, for parsing html im using a great library by
Andy Powney (andy@powney.demon.co.uk) that i found in codeproject

    http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/apmilhtml.asp?df=100&forumid=36098&exp=0&select=1060484#xx1060484xx

it's really useful, i got the parsing working real quick, i think this weekend i'll finish with the data mining part and start with the database

    New pocketpc/touchscreen project

I've just started working on a new plug-in GUI for htpc-software. My goal is to use it on my old htc pocketpc, and later I plan to buy and use it on a touchscreen connected to my htpc.

It will be devolped using .Net Compact Framework 2.0, so the same executable will be able to run on both pocketpc and pc. This will connect to a plugin installed on the htpc. Mediaportal will be first up, followed by Windows MCE.

The GUI will be skinnable. Alphablending/PNG's will be supported. No animations/scripting at first release. The engine will be able to replicate baddabings pocketpc-skin for xlobby (which is my inspiration, for now..)

The first beta, expected 01.jan 07 will only support music-features (browsing, searching, playlists etc..). Later on radio/video will be added

I guess it will be somewhat similiar to mpblue, but also a bit different.

I've only a couple of hours/week available for this project, so development will be slow. But I have promised my self to have something working at my new years eve-party. So january 1st a beta should be ready.

    Hi andemat!

This sounds great. I've always been looking for something like that to use it on a touch screen like in the Dign X15e case. Please make sure you contact the guys who want to implement a uniform remote control interface. There must be a thread like "New web server for MP" somewhere in the forum.

    Keep up the good work!

Michael, could you direct me to those posts? I'm not sure I can use a mediaportal-specific interface, since I'm aiming to create a remote/interface for any htpc-software that supports plugins. But it's worth a look.

    Update:

Just to clarify: my project is just a remote control. No playback of music/video/tv on the client. I'm developing it because I don't want to turn on my tv/projector just to play some music.

I will focus on making it finger-friendly.

And a little warning: I'll be using a commercial graphics-library, and in time probably a commercial scriping engine (not many of those for CF.Net). So I'll accept donations for the mediaportal version, and I'll charge for other editions.

Currently I'm in the progress of writing a simple gui-engine, and exploring my options in regards to scripting. Later on I would like to team up with a couple of touchscreen-users and maybe a designer.

andemat - Just to let you know that MediaPortal is opensource. So the other people who are providing RemoteControl and pocketPC support and supporting MediaPortal by providing their source code and not using commercial graphics will be the road that many of us will want to work with.

mzemina: note that he is making a PPC remote control for all htpc-software, not just MP.

As for the OSS theory - sure in an ideal world that may be true, but realistically, if his solution is better than anything else out there, people will use it. So it'll be a good thing if it supports MP. Having done some dev on PPCs using the compact framework, good components are hard to find, especially open-source ones. If he has the time to rewrite the components that are available commercially as open-source, then all the better, but I think time and possibly skills will restrict that.

Andemat: please open a new thread for your project to avoid cluttering up this thread.

Just finished the very first alpha version of my ICQ-Plugin.

Very BASIC things are missing like setting or receiving statusinformation (online/invisble/dnd,...) but at least you can read and write messages.

I'm now starting to analyse the msn-plugin and hopefully get some ideas from it to make it look a bit "nicer".

    Suggestions welcome.

    Im using OscarLib

    btw. just uploaded that alpha-version
