Hey folks,

Presenting Complaint:
My TV returning 'failed to draw graph error suddenly.

History of Presenting Complaint:

This lifestyle destroying error cropped up this morning (you can tell just how much I use mediaportal by the fact that it cropped up at 8:25am just about 20 seconds after I got up).

Initially the problem was that mediaportal wouldn't maximise from the system tray. I waited patiently for nearly 7 or 8 minutes then went for Task Manager. Saw it was using loads of memory but what the hell. No biggie. More thumb twiddling.

OK now this waiting is driving me round the bend. So I task managered it's a$$.................I put out a couple of kills on the process using task manager and waited.......nothing........I stopped to think. Rebooting my computer would take ages but.......ah there's the solution.

I logged out of windows and logged back in.

Restarted mediaportal.

So far so good. Then tried to switch on TV. And the TV failed to start graphing error came up.

I backed up then deleted mediaportal.xml and mediaportal.xml.bak and reset up the config.

I deleted the TV card and reinstalled it.

I renamed the mediaportal directory then installed a completely fresh install (and imported my channel backup from the previous one). Then set up my TV stick on the new install.....

Still the same error.

I'm now at my wit's end. I need some mediaportal god............. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

(oh and please reply :) I like to think I'm not alone in the universe ;-) )

There's a nice little tool under the start menu called MPTestTool for collecting logs and compressing them, then use the go advanced + feature on this forum for uploading to your post, just for future reference.

Chances are, not only the mediaportal.xml is corrupt but the tvdatabase is as well, remove both (copy to external media as backup).

You will need to retune and reset up MP, if you have used the export button under channels you may just be able to reimport channels in the original sorted order.

For UK DVB-T, still recommend TVE3, Todays 17967 installed working fine.

    Hey folks,

I tried deleting both of those files no luck.

I also deleted completely both installations (deleting database entries etc).

Then I reinstalled mediaportal from scratch.

First up came the configuration program of course, I just clicked ok and reloaded.

1st thing I notice - no first use wizard...

I invoke the wizard manually. It finds my card. However when it comes to searching for channels it looks as though it goes through the whole 15/20 minute process in about 2 seconds - finding no channels.

I try to run the tv - obviously it doesn't work.

I reboot to config and manually import my database, reboot mediaportal and try and start My TV and the graph error comes up again (on a fresh install)

Furthermore clicking ok and then attempting to enable tv again gives:

    Failed to start TV

    Unable to connect MPG2 pin

    ?????

Ok now I'm confused. What's going on???:D folks

Run Filmerit, looks like you may have some filter errors, this may involve reinstalling any codecs missing from system.

This may involve installing MP again, but you should be able to not delete settings.

Which codecs are you using for tv anyway.

Thanks to everyone who helped out. I've solved the problem after deleting everything (I think uncessarily!) I want to post the solution up here to help anyone else who may be experiencing this problem.

So if you've got graph problems mediaportal fails to start, and the other errors described above, and you logged out with MP crashing..............

Try rebooting your computer from scratch.

My suspicion is something went funny with the actual USB device at the OS side which was stopping MP accessing it propperly. (perhaps some residual system process that wasn't visable on the taskmanager was still using it?)

I rebooted and everything is hunky dory.

Well except my EPG is nolonger there....I'll have to play around and see if I can fix it. I think it's usually reading the broadcast one rather than from the net but I don't know.

    *scratches head*

    Anyway Thanks alL!
