    Hi Folks,
    I have the following Problem.

    Problem:
Aspect Ratio doesnt work correct on my Plasma TV.
Especially to correct 'fake' 16:9 Format (with ZOOM).

    Settings/Infos:
    PixelRatio is set to 1.33
    DesktopResolution = 1024x768
No difference between DVB-S or analog TV-Card.
    Single user/PC setup

    (possible) Reason:
Videosize between TVE2 (=old TVEngine) and TVE3 is not the same.
    TVE2 size is correct
TVE3 size is like the Desktop Resolution

This has been corrected and it should work. Perhaps really try another codec, as infinityloop already suggested.

MPA/MPV has poor aspect ratio control and poor PQ.

DSCALER is much better but has a bug causing long pauses when skip through files

For XP and W2k i would recommend using the codec supplied by your GPU mfr, ie Cyberlink/ATI decoder for Radeon spec cards and NV codec for NV cards.

If using VISTA the MS codec is also very good (but may not offer dx acceleration with NV drivers because of NV bugs) and I use this with my x1950pro and various other ATI/AMD gpu cards.

    Thank you for your answers.

Yes - it seems to be a Problem with my codecs.

I tryed an other one (under movies), but the Problem is still the same.

What's strange (in my opinion). - And I think it is the reason for my Problem.
If mediaportal is closed an I record some thing direkt with TV-Server, the Video has a size of 768x576.
If I record the same (Program/Channel/Card) within Mediaportal (TV-Plugin) the Video size is 1024x576.
    Side note: 768 * AR(1.33333) = 1024 - But why?

At weekend I have more time for testing.
Then I will compare my both Windows installations, the installed codecs and the merit of the codecs.

    Kind regards

interestingly i get this problem as well, have only noticed cause i've looked at the logs closer, it seems my SD tv of 720x576 is reported by the logs as 1024x576 , and my dvds i watch are also the incorrect resolution, any ideas on this one?

    Problem is solved

    Hello,

It was the MPV-Codec, as suggested.
Tried Dscaler and Intervideo. - With both the TV Ratio is correct (also for recordings).

 I always changed the codec in the Movie section, thought (I read it sometimes in the forum) the codec for TV-Plugin is to setup there.
Changed it now under television and it works.

    Thank you for your help.

    Kind regards

mzemina: On my system/settings the codec of MP take effekt to the recording of the TV-Server. This is strange (in my opinion), but I dont know how it should work. Maybe another one, who have more knowledge of TVE3, read this and can this confirm as bug, feature, technical restriction or simply my fault. :)

I have a similar problem with cyberlink powerdvd 7.3 codec. Aspect modes (zoom, normal, ecc.) works correctly only with DScaler Codec. With MPV and Cyberlink I always get false aspect ratios. Infact with these codecs zoom and normal mode are identical so it seems zoom mode does not work and 14:9 zoom has right and left borders out of the visible portion of the screen (they should be visible).

    Roby

Something strange: i set DScaler then back to Cyberlink and everything now works fine. If I set MTV and then cyberlink this broke the thing....
