ATI Theatre 650 ATSC Tuner Not Found (1 Viewer)

I am having problems getting MP to find the ATSC tuner on my ATI Theatre 650 card. This is in a relatively new system with very little software installed - mostly factory default from Dell. I know the card works fine, as I've used it for a week or more under Media Center, and the video is great, pulling in all local DV OTA channels. When I install MP and enter the TVServer configuration, it shows only 2 card entries:

1, RadioWebStream, RadioWebStream Card (builtin)
2, Analog, ATI AVStream Analog Tuner

I should also see an ATSC tuner (Media Center finds it without a problem), but it isn't found by MP. Additionally, even though the Analog tuner of the card is found, attempting to scan for channels finds none, and I know that there are several that should be found.

I've spent several days trolling through the forum posts and searching various other locations on the net, and I see that there are people successfully using this card with MP, but there is very little if any information regarding this issue. I currently have all Media Center services disabled, and have prevented the startup of the 2 Media Center applications that typically load with Windows, hopefully insuring that nothing is preventing access to the card. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ATI driver. I have yet to meet with success. This is a new, clean system, so MP should find the ATSC tuner without a problem, and I'm at a loss as to why it isn't.

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. I could continue to run using just Media Center, but MC just plain sucks compared to MP. I've attached all log files, but there isn't much in them - this is a completely new installation of MP. Thanks.

i'm having the exact same issue with the same TV card. I also tried updating the tv card drivers but it did not affect anything. I however, have not tried to see if the analog portion of the card is working properly, although I noticed it did not seem to recognize any channels when I ran the channel scan the first time. Is the card not yet supported? or is there another issue?

I have noticed something interesting on this. When Windows Media Center finds the card, it also only finds ATI AVStream Analog Tuner. When it then does a channel scan on this, it finds the digital channels. I've since installed both BeyondTV and SageTV, and both work without a problem, though they function much like Windows Media Center - they find the ATI AVStream Analog Tuner, and discover the digital channels on it when doing a channel scan.

Attempting the channel scan on ATI AVStream Analog Tuner within Media Portal either produces nothing, or locks up the entire computer. Since I'm working from a clean and updated install of Vista, I doubt I have other software or drivers causing such a problem. Additionally, I've tried GB-PVR, and it appears to have the same issues as Medial Portal, so perhaps they are both handling things incorrectly with this card, though I have to wonder how others report success in using it.

I had also installed BeyondTV before trying mediaportal. I hadn't noticed if it said it found an "analog" tuner (although i suspect it might have) but initially it worked and picked up all the digital channels just fine. However, I uninstalled it, and then just recently tried re-installing it, and it then would not allow me to set up a digital signal; the option was grayed out, as if BeyondTV no longer detected that the card could accept a digital signal. That was the primary reason why I decided to try mediaportal, but again, it seems I am getting the same problem.

Hi Guys.
I have the ATI 650 Combo USB and Combo PCIE cards in my HTPC. Both have multiple tuners that are detected (analog and digital). not problems here. I'm running XP Pro SP3 and I downlaoded the latest Theater drivers from ATI website. Oh, both my cards were made/sold by Visiontek.

This is a Vista Issue

I also have a Vista SP1 system with an ATI theater 650 combo usb. Vista Media Center finds both tuners, as does the software shipped with the card (Catalyst Media Center). But you are right that Media Portal does not find both tuners, only the analog one. I tried doing the 'how to add card' for it, but could not find the 'CaptureCardDefinitions.xml' file as per the instructions.

I'd also would love if when they include the dual tuner support for this card if we could do an analog and a digital recording at same time.

TV-server sees my ATI 650 - ATSC
but when I scan, no channel found!! (ATI mediacenter founded 4 channels)

Any advices on that?
