Hi,

I am QA testing the latest HDHomeRun drivers for use with MediaPortal 1.0.0 RC1.

For native QAM support, MediaCenter (MS) requires a driver report two demod types - 8VSB and QAM.

Testing with MP...
If the driver reports an 8VSB demod then MP reports it as an ATSC tuner and works for ATSC/QAM.
If the driver reports a QAM demod then MP reports it as a DVB-C tuner.
If the driver reports both 8VSB and QAM then MP reports the type as "Unknown".

For the moment I have told HDHomeRun Setup to disable reporting a QAM demod if MP is selected, however MP may want to consider supporting drivers that report 8VSB+QAM demods to be compatible with drivers written for MediaCenter.

Nevermind... discovered that XP does not include the "Microsoft Network Provider" component needed for dual-demod operation (it was introduced in MCE 2005).

I have updated HDHomeRun Setup to publish the demod support the older XP way for all applications by default.

Problem solved.

I have the HDHomeRun and am using the beta 3 drivers for OTA... How is this going to affect me.... using the latest MP server/client setup on Windows XP MCE 2005.

I can't really run a test until I get a new antenna amplifier so all my channels come in cleaner.
My current amp just stopped working this past week while I was away on vacation.

    regards

    Hi,

You will need the latest MP 1.0.0.0 RC and the latest HDHomeRun beta driver (from the Silicondust forum).

Set the application to MediaPortal when you run HDHomeRun Setup, apply, then run the TV Server Configuration utility to scan for channels.

    Yes... yes it is.

actually, IMO, MP scans channels slower than any of the native tuner software.

I just go out and brew another pot of java. :D

...someday... maybe it will get better at it.
