I have a problem:

On my remote I have these two free buttons: "(" and "£". I've configured these 2 buttons in the plugin settings (see attached image), but they doesn't work (nothing happens when I press them, the same using keyboard).

I use the imon pad, and I solved the problem by selecting also "CTRL" into ARC configuration panel.

I just tried ARC for the first time, without much luck.

I set two profiles, both set to Directsound: Realtek Speakers (one with a ffdshow .reg file set to downmix to stereo, another to downmix to quad) and I got no sound, just picture and GraphStudio showed that ffdshow's output wasn't connected to anything. I then changed it to Default DirectSound device, and then MP locked up when trying to start LiveTV.

Then your regkeys are not imported.

If you have ffdshow with stereo config ARC can't connect the outpin of ffdshow with the inpin from renderer!
Do you have sufficient rights to change regkeys inside MePo?!?

I've since tried it with just two instances of Default DirectSound Device (no regkeys) and that works OK, so yeah it's clearly the regkeys that are complicating things.

I don't get what you mean by "ARC can't connect the outpin of ffdshow with the inpin from renderer" if ffdshow's Mixer settings are set to downmix to stereo. That's my default ffdshow setting and it doesn't seem to cause a problem using ARC with it IF i'm not using ARC to load regkeys (ie change ffdshow settings), but only to switch Renderer (although I'm not really switching anything, because both lines are set to the same thing!)

As far as I know I've got sufficient rights. I'm running as Admin, UAC is disabled and I don't seem to have any problems doing anything else on my system, but maybe there's something specific to MP I don't know about.

Maybe I'm not exporting the ffdshow regkeys properly? What I did was select/activate my "downmix to stereo" profile and clicked on "Export all settings" and then selected/activated my "downmix to quad" profile and did "Export all settings" again, making two reg files. Having just looked at the files, it seems they contain my ffdshow video settings as well, even though I exported from ffdshow audio, which seems a bit weird.

Hi Thor2605,

the idea of developing this plugin is something that a lot of people were waiting for, so thank you in the name of all of us that will take advantage of such a great thing!!

I started testing the plugin last week with some "strange results", let me explain it:
- letter k configured to "next chapter" for DVDs, TV and videos: When in "My TV" it works as expected, but when in "My videos" works like if the keyboard has been pressed twice
- If I configured shift+k: "My TV" still works as expected, but "My videos" works with shift+k and also with k (really strange behaviour!!)
- Letter i configured to "previous chapter" in BASS: It doesn't work at all => no action and no OSD

I tested with two different keyboards (MS wireless and a regular USB) as well as with two different skins (default and Streamed MP) to check if this makes any difference, but don't. I am using MePo 1.2.1 with windows 7 32 bits, and an HTPC connected to a TV (HDMI) and to a HIFI (TOSLINK).

My config xml file is attached, I don't know if you need some more information (logs, other configs, etc) that may be helpful for you. Please, point me to the information you need I will send you.

PS: I also configured an MCE remote (yellow button" for changes, and it doesn't work, but I think we can face this issue later once the keyboard side has been solved

Thanks for your reply. I've tryed with shift and 8 (for "(" ) and 3 (for "£" ), but it doesn't work.

Changeing to same audio renderer? What do you want to do there?!?
Please make sure you only have ffdshow-audio settings in your regkey!

Do you have BASS-enginge activated in MePo?

The keyboard shortcuts are directly activated. So don't configure the keyboard shortcut to a action in MePo config! These settings are either keyboard or action (for MCE).
If you configure it then you have two actions: One from keyboard and then one from MePo-action!

Please try to switch without regekys for testing. There please make sure to set ffdshow to stereo!

Sorry, I still don't get what you mean. I can manually change the Mixer settings in ffdshow to anything (stereo, quadro, 5 channels, 6 channels, etc) and I still get sound, so the output-pin of ffdshow must be connected to the input pin of the renderer.

The reason I'm trying to use ARC is to switch between stereo mixdown and quad mixdown in ffdshow (sometimes I want to watch films only with my TV speakers and other times I want surround sound), and as there doesn't seem to be any way to switch profiles in ffdshow using my remote in MP, someone suggested I could use ARC to load the different ffdshow regkeys (whilst still using the same renderer, i.e. Default Directsound Device).

I'll try with only ffdshow-audio settings in my regkeys. Do I have to strip out the video parts manually, or is there some way to export only the audio settings?

But why do you use the same renderer?
ARC is not implemented to change to the same renderer! You have to change from HDMI to SPDIF directly. How do you change the default direct sound device by remote?

If I take shortcut from start menu (SAF 6.00 - FFDShow - Audio Decoder Configuration) And click in the dialog on "Export all Settings" I only get audio regekys in there?!?
