Audio Track Selection (1 Viewer)

Hi,

since some svns, MP will select AC3 audio, even if "prefer AC3" is not checked and a mpeg audio track with matching language is present.

I consider this a bug, as for me with SPDIF out, mpeg will be upmixed by my amplifier, while AC3 2/0 will just play on 2 channels. So most of the time, mpeg audio is the best choice for me (if AC3 3/2/1 is not avalable).

It would be great, if audio could be selected by preference:

AC3 3/2/1, matching language
MPEG, matching language
AC3 2/0, matching language
AC3 3/2/1, any language
MPEG, any language
AC3 2/0, any language

At least MP should default to MPEG, when "prefer AC3" is not checked.

Nice regards,
Markus

    All good suggestions.

Although MP cant differentiate between ac3 2.0 and ac3 5.1
Unless it's part of the audio track description, the ones u get listed in the audio track menu.

    Thanks for the answer,

OK, I understand - AC3 is just a data stream to MP, it has no idea what it really means to the audio codec/amplifier...

Does MP have access to the bitrate of the audio track?

I would think it could then be possible to make the audio track selection based on the bitrate:

AC3, matching language, bitrate over a given threshold
    MPEG, matching language
    Any audio track, matching language
    ...

Anyway - do you know why MP selects AC3 now by default, even if MPEG is avalable?

    Nice regards,
    Markus

could u provide me with your mediaportal.log and tv.log on one of these channels causing troubles ?

MP just sees and ac3 stream or an mpeg1 stream .. no meta data available.

I attached those logs to the original post.

    About the available meta data:

Is this a limitation of tsreader, tvclient or mediaportal?
No way to get those informations?

    Nice regards, Markus

    Thx for the logs;
    try this one attached.

    It's not implemented.
this requires a complete parsing and analysis of the stream data.

Thank you - this fixes the problem.
Aspect ratio error (see my other post) is still there.

    Any idea on that?

    Another thing:

Mediaportal crashed on exit with an GPF, but I do not think, this is a new bug.
I have stability issues with the tv plugin in the latest SVNs anyway.

It started after 16549 which was the latest stable release I tested.

    Nice regards,
    Markus

I can confirm the aspect ration issue.
This seems to be a side effect of the audio selection fix. Before it worked perfectly but since the audio election fixes, I am experiencing the aspect ratio problem also very sporadically. Any logs required?

The audio fix doesnt have anything to do with the AR issue.
Again, please explain very detailed what the problem is.
Perhaps create a new thread for it :)

Gibman: Is this also a fix for my problems (audio track problem that is) I described here:

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showpost.php?p=210001&postcount=15

I had to go back with previous tvplugin.dll form 16542 to get me back on track with audio selection. Also have been having problems with selecting audio streams when watching TV - it just freezes every time. Have to stop TV and start TV again to get it going again. That problem has been around for a long time for me though.

    Thanks,
