MovPic, TVSeries, Music etc. using SQLite. Only the TVServer uses MySQL.
Renaming your folder is a bad idea.. better copy your database folder to desktop or somewhere else (to backup). Then delete all databases in their and you have to scan all again. You maybe find some backups for MovPic and TVSeries databases in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database\TVSeries_backup or something similar.

Sorry for maybe being dumb ;-) but why do I make daily backups if I can not restore them?
My idea would be to delete all content from C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database\ and restore the last known good backup of this folder to exactly the same position. But it doesn't work. So either the DBs are not the problem or a restore doesn't work this way (see my last post with the infinite progress bar).
The backups I found in the C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database\MovingPictures_Backup and ..\MP-TVSeries_Backup are outdated. There seems to be a backup from every month only and the last one is from 2012-12-26 (MP-TVSeries) and 2012-10-06 (MovingPictures). I guess that won't help.
Assumed the DBs are crashed and I have a good backup - how do I do a working restore?

If you had backups you sure can replace the crashed files with them. :) Just replace movingpictures.db3 in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database\ for example with backup you made. Same goes for all other databases. (music, TVSeries...)

Ok, after a while I found out that restoring to the latest backup doesn't work because it seems that the DBs were already damaged at that date. So the last backup set already contains damaged DBs. I went back to the second last backup and everything works fine now. I lost about a week of "work", mainly converting several dozens of movies' US rating to FSK-rating, the German voluntary self-regulation of the movie industry. And MovPic Importer found 5 new movies and TVSeries found 30 new episodes. That's ok and it's a great convenience that I use a proper file and folder structure so importing the latest series and movies from the missing week is easy; to be exact it's all done as I'm writing this.
    Again, thanks for your help!

    Cheers
    Jens
