Yes I know about it and I was waiting long enough....strange.

Could you perhaps cut out the relevant part of the video file and send it to me for testing?

Also would be good ignore change crop which is smaller than a.e. 15 pixels - because of needless blinking screen

There is already a restriction like that, but perhaps it is not set high enough. I should probably make it adjustable in the Configuration.

addition: Ive just noticed that the automatic mode causes choppy picture :(

Whats your setup? On my HTPC which is an A64 3000+ with an X550 video card it also results in additional dropped frames, but on my main PC which is a Core 2 Duo with an 7900GTO it doesnt. As it says in the warning message, its currently very resource hungry :) But as i also said, this will change when i have time to optimize it.

AMD 64 2400MHz (3800+), nVidia 6150. Of course the jerk when the plugin reloads is on my LCD hardly noticeable, but on big wide LCD it would be probably annoying

Ziphnor, I just swithed to tvserver3 and I'm missing all that neat zoom stuff you've added. No autocropper there.

Are you planning to support tvserver client-plugin soon? :) Sure would also like to see an option to disable unwanted zoom modes on tvserver3.

I dont think that the autocropper in the server is a good idea. I would not risk any damaged recorded show.

He means the CLIENT that is used with the TV server, not the server itself :) The recordings would never be affected.

Eventually yes, soon is a very vague term :) Im currently working with tourettes on DVB subtitles for transport streams, and when we get that working and the server starts supporting recording of TS instead of MPEG-2, then i will probably move the cropper/zoom modes and dvb subs into the TV servers client and concentrate on the new server/client code in all future work.

Don't know if this is the right thread, but here's my "problem":
I've worked out the perfect crop settings for 16:9. I also figured out how to make a "smart" or "superzoom" crop setting. However, It's quite a hassle to switch between those settings.

Is there a way to quickly switch from one crop-setting to the other?

TV server actually supports recording to .ts format already :)

ziphnor: do you think that would be possible change sensitivity of cropping in the configuration in any next version?

added: it would be really useful because of not so clear receiving

    suggestion

    1) would be very nice to have possibility in the "manual mode" anything like an "halfautomated mode" that only atuomatically immediate (or control every X.XX seconds Y times) uncrop when the black bars disappear and of course with the limitation of the uncrop when needed at least Z pixels.
    2) and maybe would be good to have an option (in the automatic even in the manual mode) that control only lower black bar and that react immediately because of subtitles

Just started using this plugin, thought I'd drop a wee note to say thanks for developing it. I've been hoping for something of its sort for a while. I hadn't realised how complex it would be to implement until I read this.

Are you still planning on doing horizontal cropping? I (unfortunatlly) am running a uk telewest box through an external powered scart to svideo convertor to my wintv pvr 150 and this results in black borders on all 4 sides even on 4:3 sources. the plugin fixes the top and bottom perfectly but not the sides.

In my case it would be enough to leave the manually configured left and right crop (the ones you get without autocropper) as the bars never change in size. I don't know if this would hold for the other people who wanted horizontal cropping.
