Good start - three things I would change:

    - Background for the Detailwindow - should be not that "present" - maybe you can create a Pic which has less colouring so the text is better to read - personally I would use a pic of a mainboard - as the info's are Mainboardinfos ;)
    - Textcolour - hard to read
    - some of teh fields tend to overlap with the right pane (as also seen in your screenshot)

for whatever reason the gauge in your last screenshot is on my screen streched to placed in the middle without text

Agreed, some of the text is hard to read because of the background pic (I've found this true for other plugins, ie. WorldWeather)...not got that far yet :)...but I have included the alternative background pics in the "Media" folder...if you want to change the background for a particular window to suit your needs this is hard coded in the skin file so you will have to copy and paste the background pictures file name into the skin. The alternative is to change the font colour entries in the skin file.

The reason for the overlapping is because the parameters for temps, voltages and fan speed are again hard coded in the skin and have to be entered to coincide with your entries in the HTPC Info config. The screenshots show the windows without the parameters entered in the skin file, but once these have been entered (to suit your hardware/software and what info you want to view) the overlapping should go depending on the amount of entries you have decided to have. The only other option is to reduce the font size (again hard coded in the skin).

I did have a lot of "problems" configuring font sizes as there seems to be a "bug" somewhere that didn't allow me to use all the desired fonts within a certain window that I wanted to although the fonts were available (maybe someone knows whether this is my inexperience in skinning or a config problem).

Can you upload a screenshot of the distorted gauge?

This is probably not the place to ask, but will these HTPCInfo files work for Avalon 1.2.0 Beta for MediaPortal 1.3.0A?

I have the problem where all the info is overlapped on one screen.

I'm still using ver 1.2.3 so the only thing I can suggest is to give it a try and upload any "problem" screenshots.

    Regards.

P.S. I am setting up a virtual machine for MP 1.3.0A and will update (if necessary) any mods needed to my skin files.

    Regards.

EDIT: I've also noticed that the 3rd party app (SpeedFan) needed for temps, voltages, etc. isn't totally reliable, for example, my OEM motherboards system sensors......

    Capture.PNG......compared to SpeedFan......Capture1.PNG......

......most noticeable is the 12V rail that in SpeedFan shows around 6.5V!

EDIT: FYI...IMO...the only relevant voltages to monitor are the +3.3V rail, +5V rail and the +12V rail.

After thinking about this I remember I have seen this problem before...the issue is that the different "gauge options" (image type) are not perpendicular to each other, so if a skin is configured to suit one particular gauge type, as soon as you change to an alternative "gauge option" then the image will be distorted.

I'll rework all the alternative gauge images supplied by default so as they display correctly rather than having to make "custom" changes to images.

    Regards.

    EDIT: (Perpendicular = aspect ratio)

Ok . Are you going to change the background in teh HTPCInfo.xml form hover_volumecontrol.png to you own? What name are you going to use?[DOUBLEPOST=1350628863][/DOUBLEPOST]
I've created an xml for Media Slayer and pretty pleased with it so far......

......maybe you would like to include this in your next update?

    Regards.

This doesn't work with 1.3 (at least on my machine) - reacts like mediaslayer is not installed.

I'm open to suggestions for file names, but for example, if I wanted to use the "hover_volumecontrol.png" image permanently and re-named it to something more appropriate like "htpcinfo_background.png" then this would mean that I would have to have two identical images in the "Media" folder with different file names if I still used the same image for Volume Control as well. Personally, I'm not too worried about image file names as it's easier to have one folder full of images (regardless of their file names) and just change the image name entry in the xml rather than having to re-name images. For example, I am using your dark image and have just replaced the file name entry in the xml to "Dark.png" Have I understood you correctly?

I'm not yet ready to upgrade to 1.3 but am in the process of installing it on a virtual machine to get the config right before replacing 1.2.3. Bit strange that it acts as if it's not installed though?[DOUBLEPOST=1350660689][/DOUBLEPOST]
    EDIT: (Perpendicular = aspect ratio)
Actually that means 'At right angles to (90°) to the relevant surface' ;)
    Sorry for being picky!

    Hence the edit.

    Sorry for the confusion. :)

jo eh - only thing you should take into count is that the base images can change with a skin Update - like Volumecontrol. I wouldn't bother to have two identical images with different names if this would secure me for futer changes.

Point taken......I'm currently working on resizing the images to avoid distortion between different gauge ratios and I wouldn't want them overwritten by an upgrade after all this work.

I'll need to modify the xml files to suit the new image sizes so at the same time I'll enter "default" image file names. Any suggestions?
