BackupSettings for Tv Server and Media Portal (8 Viewers)

I have released version 0.0.0.7. This is exactly the same as 0.0.0.6 only that i have removed the popup of the message window "Not all settings have been exported". This message was shown in case of some mappings could not be exported for the radio groups, the tv groups or the hybrid groups. The status window will still show a message
"Warning: mapping <id> was not exported" and give more details to the exception if the debug flag is set. I was concerned to confuse the average user with the warning of the message window in 0.0.0.6.

Although the garbage data in the data base do not hurt, you can get rid of them for the TV groups and the Radio groups by exporting your settings and then reimport again. For that you need to blank all filtersettings on the Tv server tab and then check only
File Settings for Export and Import:
-TVsettings.xml
Before Importing TV Server Settings:
-Delete All TV Groups (or Delete All Radio Groups)
Filter Settings for Import:
-TV Groups (or radio groups)
then hit the import button.


The hybrid card mappings cannot be deleted and can only be cleared by a new installation of the Tv server.

Jedney, I have thaught about your issue with the custom satellite settings. If I backup and restore them I may overwrite updated satellite lists from a new program version. I am trying to follow the principle that data in the program direcrtory can be updated by future version updates and only the data in the user directory will be overwritten by the plugin.
In the future I will provide a script mode, where the advanced user can define user specific copy operations, which will then be executed after a Tv server or a media portal import/export. This will allow you to define your customized backup operation. I could not reproduce your issue with the weather settings. They work fine for me. Please retry and let me know.

Al_Capone, currently I am not supporting recorded TV shows. I have it on my list for future enhancements now. Up to then the user needs to apply the "Import selected files" button from Recording Settings -> Database import.

I will follow up the postings after my return in about 3 weeks and hope no major issues occur in between. With about 600 downloads so far I am optimistic that the plugin should be stable by now. Thanks a lot for all the postings and your feedback.

Al_Capone,
- go to Recording settings and choose the tab Recording folders (1st picture)
- at recording folder enter the path of your recorded TV shows
- go to the database import and choose the recording folder you have entered before
- push "import selected files"

Your recordings should now be visible again. You can repeat the steps if you have multiple recording folders.
If your recording folder is not visible at the tab database import, then close Tvserver config once and try again.

-The channel names and recording paths are the same as before.
-new recordings show up just fine.

-I cannot import the old ones, they do not show up in the list.

This is not very important to me, just wanted to tell about it.

New version 0.0.0.8 released

I did release version 0.0.0.8 which no includes:

-added export/import of recordings to database (thanks to Al_Capone for proposing)

-added export/import of EPG data to database
by default the import settings are disabled as the EPG data can slow down significantly the import (for me it took 11
minutes with a total import time of 22 minutes)

-added user script support (see manual section 4, thanks to jedney for bringing it up)
This allows the user to specifiy customized backup/restore operations in a batch file. templates of batch files are
included in the manual.

-fixed possible bug with date time formats (this caused incompatibility of import data from previous versions). You will need to do a new backup export to save the current data with this version.
