I have a question..
Sometimes when I watch or record live tv the pictures i get loks like the one I attached. What courses this? When I search tv channels it says that the signal quality is 100% and the signal level is about 50%
I use a Hauppauge nova-t 500 tv card (DVB-T).

But if the picture is bad when watching live tv I often helps to turn off tv and then turn on tv again (sometimes 2-4 times) to get the picture right. It is fine that you can doo that when whatching live tv but pretty irritating when you record something you want to see later. (about 50% of the recordings is like this)

Can anyone tell my why? I think that it is a bit strange that it sometimes works and sometimes not.

Could it be my computer that is too slow? It is a P4 2.66ghz 1 GB memmory 333mhz with 533mhz fsb running XP MCE.

My guess is that your signal level is too low - it should be greater than 80% to get reliable reception without the dropouts that you are seeing. Your PC is plenty fast enough for DVB-T reception.

Thanks.. I will try to see if I can get a better signal then. Just bought a new antenna

I got the signal level up to 75-80% and the signal quality is still 100%. It is now much better but stil problems first time I turn on tv. If I turn off tv and then on again it works 100%.

Maby it is necessary the put the antenna outside the house to get the Signal level up to 100% ??

But why is it that it dont work the first time I turn tv on but the second?

I think you are getting some form of interference, any electrical cabling running alongside aerial lead, my signal can sometimes dip down towards the 50 ish mark and i have no blockiness whatsover.

External Aerials are always far better reception wise than internals.

It is not CAT5 cable just some cheap networkcable. I could try to unplug the network cable in both ends to see if that solves the problem.. Will write later Thanks

I had similar issues with TVE3 and Skystar2, the picture quality was especially in recordings bad.
Because the signal quality bar was at a level of 30%, I tried to fix this with better coaxial cable,
    but no quality improvement.
Now, back to MP1 the shown picture is accurate and the signal quality is indicated to about 80 %.

Is it possilbe that the problem comes from Tv-Server ?

I just tried to remove all other cables around the antenna cable but still the same problem. The only solution I can see is that I should have the antenna outside the house instead to get my signal level over 75% as it is now (quality is still 100%)..

But the strange part of this is: I tried out my dvb-t card on my tvserver inside MS Mediacenter 2005 and the picture is crystal clear no problems at all. But then I dont get dvb subs on all the nice features the MP can do. But I think it is strange that I only get a good picture in MS MCE on the same computer..
