Hello together,

I modified some Background images for my Basichome menu. I thing it would look much better if the fading from one Picture to another does not go over black. Know what I need.
Normaly the former background seem to fade to black and the upcoming background fades in. So the image gets darker befor the new one shows up.
I'd like the new background to fade in over the old one.
Is that possible to realize by editing the Basichome XML? I already tried, but failed.

Thanks for your help.

Frank

Is this when changing to new menu item (ie with static images) or when random fanart changes on a single item?

It really should be fading in/out at the same time so maybe a bug with the timings in the fade animations.

    Hello ltfearme,

    thanks for your fast reply.

I mean when changing between menu items with single backgrounds.
I think it's fading in and out the same time, but this meens that the former image is getting darker when the new image fades in.
If you look at my background images - see my next thread - you see that they are nearly equal. They just differ in the image shown on the TV screen.
I just want to x-fade the TV screens, so the former image shoud not fade out before the new image is completely loaded.

    Hi Frank,

There is no hidden animation on these backgrounds which is the main problem. I have fixed this in the editor but does give me a issue with all horizontal menu types which I will need to solve before a new editor can be released.

For now and to test if you add the following lines, replacing the existing <animation> line in the background controls.

    <animation effect="fade" start="10" end="100" time="600" reversible="false">Visible</animation>
    <animation effect="fade" start="100" end="10" time="600" reversible="false">Hidden</animation>

These are controls with the description

    <description><menu name> BACKGROUND 1</description>

and start with control ID 1200 onwards.

Love the new BG's btw - Nice work.

    Cheers

I noticed this too, but I figured it was supposed to be how StreamedMP worked. When switching from one menu item to the next, it goes from fanart to black and then fades into the new fanart for that menu item. This only happens if the fanart on the current menu item is fully loaded before switching to the next menu item. If you switch from one menu item to the next while the first menu item's fanart is still loading, then it does the smooth crossfade transition.

I personally like the smooth crossfade transition myself and I wish it did it all the time. It seems like it flows better than going to black and fading in, but that is just my personal preference :)

    Trevor,

Tried this out and background fades in and out much more smoothly. Thanks for the tip and await this feature in the new editor. Great work and keep it up.

That good, will most likely animations be tweaked a little before release as there is still a very slight darkening of the BG when switching.

    Thx
