No, the chances are MP would just freeze under a weak signal.
All you can do is make sure you have the best signal from your aerial, ie no corroded parts, and a good mast amplifier.

Well just to throw some confusion into the matter, I've also been trying to get BBC HD through my NOVA S2 card, and along with the advice on theis thread installed the cyberlink software that came with the card to use those h264 codecs as I was not getting a picutre. I had no luck. It kept using ffdshow whatever I did! So... I looked more closely and it said that the channel was MPEG2!!! So I disabled MPEG2 in ffdshow and the channel came up - weird! The problem is there is a lot of video lag, im guessing i have CPU limitations (AMD 64bit 3000+).
Now I have I done something incredibly wrong or is it actually MPEG2?!!!
