I also read a test of the Hauppauge where they couldn't record more than one channel at the time, so perhaps the card just doesn't work correctly on some systems.

i have had mine recording 4 or 5 channels at the same time + timeshifting.

Yeah, mine worked fine too. My point is that others seem to have been more unfortunate

No problem with hauppauge for recording 8 channels in the same time (4 channels * 2 multiplex) after changing MP code.
Problem is with the pinnacle card, for the moment.
