Don't know for sure but don't see why not. You should be able to connect it just like a cable box. I'm guessing some of the freq's might be different. I know some work has been done some satellite connectivity but I think it has been focused on European systems. Do a forum search and you should find the info you are looking for.

Worst case, you'd have to use the "S-Video in" on your capture card, switch the myTV (inside MP) to S-Video, and change channels using your Satellite box.

The one question I am still looking to answer: If I get a video card with both hardware encode *and* decode, can I use a lower CPU? If so, how much lower?

Also, what sites are good places to read and learn about building quiet PCs?

I think you can use a 700 Mhz cpu when a video card with hardware decode and encode is used
