that's odd, the .wav and the .mp3 should have worked. Is the files directory pointed at a folder that has just the .wav or the .mp3 files (ie doesn't contain only folders)

I've posted a new version (check the top post) here's what's fixed:

-All roms must be in the same directory.
-Clicking the Up one directory button tries to launch it in the program

I'm currently getting project64 to work and hope to have that up by the end of the day

    Here is my little report:

I got it working (june13) on my desktop pc.

    # mame32 is working fine
    # SNES is working fine

    Issues:

    # the tools menu is very hidden. I always use fullscreen. Did not manage to get ther via key. should be "x" shouldn´t it? Managed to change this via General settings with F2, though. maybe integration in the settings section later on would be a good thing (this goes to frode, I think.

    # couldn´t manage to get images for roms shown. Probably my fault. Do I need to specify .zip for the roms and something for the images like.bmp?

    # the "Durchsuchen" (scan) button seems to do nothing.

    # changes in the tools section apply only after completely closing mediaportal and reopen it.

    Everything else works superb.

It's good you hear it's working for you tomtom!

    As for the issues

    # the tools menu is very hidden. I always use fullscreen. Did not manage to get ther via key. should be "x" shouldn´t it? Managed to change this via General settings with F2, though. maybe integration in the settings section later on would be a good thing (this goes to frode, I think.

I think this is purposely done as it's a sort of once off kind of thing.

    # couldn´t manage to get images for roms shown. Probably my fault. Do I need to specify .zip for the roms and something for the images like.bmp?

For this to work you need to have the name of the rom .jpg in the images folder.

    # the "Durchsuchen" (scan) button seems to do nothing.

This is true but it will be one of the last things that I implement. What I hope to have hear is a collection of scripts for grabbing the box art for different emulators. This would be quite tricky and may not ever happen.

    # changes in the tools section apply only after completely closing mediaportal and reopen it.

Ahh true, I'll add this to the bug list

That's excellent news, if you want them both to work you should use '.wav,.mp3' without the quotes

    Yes, very good!
By the way, any testers should restart MP after making changes to the plugin configuration.
    Great...

Excuse my ignorance, but can someone please explain to me how to make this work for, say, mame?

Here's what I've been trying to use, unsuccessfully..

    Launching Application: D:\Program Files\mame076b\mame.exe
    Files Directory: D:\Program Files\mame076b\roms
    Image Directory: D:\Program Files\mame076b\artwork
    Extensions: .zip, .jpg

Dont worry it's certainly not ignorance, there really isn't any documentation on how to use this yet.

    What exactly happens?

Does the my programs menu item show up on the main screen?
Does bring you to the my programs window if you click on it?
Are there any roms listed on the window?
    Does mame start to load?
What is the error message that you are recieving?

Also, you don't need to specify the .jpg in the extensions.
