BTW, I wouldnt trust Bill Gates if I were to travel to the moon ;-)

I did hear that the complexity (measured in codelines?) of Windows XP was higher than the complexity of the international spacestation (measured in number of CAD points? I dunno).

But I do hope that NASA etc have better stability :-D

Confirm that it persists after a full windows reinstall (the cure for just about any problem it seems)

If windows is corrupted and you have run out of options, Always a good choice.

Should not give most htpc owners much of a problem, as anything installed is directly associated say with the likes of MP.

Now PC owners who use as a htpc, it takes me about 7 hrs to reinstall, in fact I just spread it over a few days, because Boredom sets in, and that's using norton ghost for the operating system/hardware drivers/programs.

Advising someone to reformat and reinstall windows is not taken lightly, but does solve a lot of seemingly unsolvable problems (ie you know it should work but does not).
