Hi - firstly let me start by saying to the creator Tgx - the Black Glass skins are absolutely amazing. I think they look incredibly professional and by far the best mediaportal skin I have used in years.
However I am having a problem at the moment that is cracking me up and I'm looking for any advice to help me troubleshoot it.
The problem is that mkv files are intermittently dropping frames. Here's are some of the facts I have established after hours and hours of testing:
- this problem only has been occurring recently. Was happily using the Black Glass skin for over a month.
- it occurs mainly (but not always) when I use Black Glass. If I switch to Black Glass Nova it doesn't seem to happen as much. Any ideas why this could be?
- it is more likely to occur if I play the file through moving pictures rather than through My Videos - memory issue?
- never a problem playing these files through media player classic etc.
- nothing unusual going on with system resources when the problem occurs
- If the problem doesn't happen then closing mediaportal and re-opening can often cause it to occur. When it occurs I can always tell before I play a file because moving the menus seems slightly sluggish compared to normal. Once it happens it seems to happen for all files I test.
- I have tried re-installing skins.
- Tried changing codecs, re-installing.
- The only thing I haven't yet done is re-install mediaportal - if I do this should I do a complete clean re-install?
It's really driving me mad that I can't re-create the problem consistently. I definitely don't think it's an issue with the skins but I'm really not to sure where to start in terms of asking for advice on these forums. The only thing that is consistent is that the problem occurs a lot more in Black Glass compared to Black Glass Nova.
I have posted my logs from last night (although on that occasion I could not re-create) - any tips, help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Ryan
