In another sub-forum there is a thread with this problem:

leeamrog said:
"BUT, I've got an issue when i watch a film or TV show. Everytime I close the video it returns to MP with a BLANK screen. The topbar is still visible which allows me to return to the homepage which sorts the issue out. But it is a tad annoying when i watch a TV Show and have to keep going back to the homepage. Has anybody else came across this issue???? If so can you help "

So I've made some tests with external and internal player.

My system:
WIN7 + MP 1.1.0 Beta + TV series v2.3.3517 (everything up-to-date)

Internal player -> everything OK
Zoom Player -> black screen on return to MP
Windows Media Player -> black screen on return to MP
VLC -> black screen on return to MP

Then to eliminate codecs, I made my external player "Zoom player", but without any parameters (so when I click video file, It just starts Zoom Player, but no video is running (no cedecs)).
Result: Black screen.

I assume it has to be something wrong, when external player exists (no screen refresh?). TopBar is active and works fine.

LOG file doesn't show anything wrong (or does it?):

You are using TVSeries plugin and also saying in another thread that it is working with MyVideos so why posted here?

"Moved. Thanks. But still I'm not sure if it's MP bug or MPTVSeries plugin, because internal "Videos" works fine. No matter. Now it's in 3 places so I hope someone will notice my problem."

Because someone told me so in that thread. Sorry, I'm new and struggling with all this. I'm not sure where lies the problem. As I'm developer myself, I can make good test cases and I also know, that It could be number of reasons for this "glitch". But as I'm not familiar with MP arhitecture, I'm treating this as "black box"...

If I understand, you think It's MPTVSeries issue?

No worries. It's just all of those false bug reports which are caused by 3rd party skins, plugins etc. not yet compatible with MP beta.

From log you can see that MP is changing screen to GUI so I suggest that TVSeries author check this issue.

I dont use an External Player personally but if someone can confirm and then add to our IssueTracker that would be great!

When I get a chance I will setup external player and debug to see whats happening.

    Hi,
i had the same issue and after updating to newest version it was ok, but i have another problem which maybe is related to this one.
when i watch an episode till the end and then close my external player to return to mp, all texts and pictures exept the backdrop are gone. there is no list of episodes, or descriptions of them. i have to restart mp to get everything working again.
the strange thing is, that if i start a video, and lets say after 5 minutes stop it again, everything is fine. the problem just appiers when i watch for a longer time.

    hope somebody can help :)

    system: windows 7 x32, mp 1.1.0 beta, MP-TVSeries v2.3.3538, mpc-hc 1.3.1249.0, streamedmp skin v0.9.601

I confirm this bug. My MP configuration is the same except Blue3wide skin.

If its a different problem, a new thread would be more appropriate.

Do you guys use VMR9 by any chance? Try EVR and see if you get the same problem.

Anyway, Im going to close this thread. Please report your issues and findings in a new thread.
