Blue screen flash when changing channels... (1 Viewer)

When I change the tv channel, besides being slow, it also flashes an annoying blue screen.

Is there anyway to get rid of this blue screen flash problem? (and maybe speed channel change up a bit?)

Is there a TV codec that is especially good?

I can just guess. You must try to change everything (only one at a time) to nail down your problem. But my first guess would be your TV-Card and it cannot be corrected easily

1. TV-Card issue:
- update/downgrade driver
- try another OS (maybe give XP or Vista a shot)
- try an another card of a friend
2. try another TV-Codec (I suggest Cyberlink PDVD 7-9 MPG2 and h.264)
3. try another renderer (EVR or WMR9)


my TV-Card works with Vista SP1 the best, not very well with Win7.

Thanks, I was curious if this was a known problem or not with an easy fix, but I guess not and I'll just go the trial and error route.

Hi there

Stick with EVR since you're on Windows 7. Trying different video codecs is definitely the way to go...

Hi im suffering from this issue too and in my system it is definitely tvcard + tv combination are guilty.
TVcard reads EDID info from HDReady tv and recieve a native res 1360x760 and recomended res 1920x1080
In this case it jumps to recomended on channel change and back to native immediately with annoying blue screen.
if i switch tv res to 1920x1080 picture looks ugly but no blue screen( it is just for proving assumption).
Here i have desabled Nvidia driver helper service and it is eleiminated blue screens on channel change. but sometimes when i have an issue with streaming data it still jumps to blue. It doesnt happen if i use non dxva codecs. So imho it mostly driver hardware specific issue.

I have the exact same problem with my new Hauppauge HVR2200 card.... I'll try the "Nvidia Driver Helper service" and "codec" solutions to see if it makes a difference...

Did you guys ever fix this issue? I don't have a Nvidia Graphics card, buy I'm getting the same issue.

This issue started appearing for me after I upgraded my HTPC from an ancient AMD to a shiny new Core i3
