Re: Bluray Handler 0.9.6 (BETA)

[offtopic]

I had stopped watching BD films for the most part as I just got sick of using the clunky PDVD plugin, now it's as painless as playing a DVD.

Do you mean the workaround stopping MP and starting PDVD via script? I think you are not so familiar with that BD-stuff otherwise you should know that armands plugin plays only unprotected BDs or you must use a software which makes it possible to play protected discs. In some countries using software like AnyDVD HD is forbidden by law. So the workaround is the only legal possibilty to play protected BD controlled by MP.

Be careful to use words like "clunky". All the work is done voluntarily. So as you are so good as it seems, sit down, use your brain and write a new plugin which can play both, protected and unproteced content. Otherwise keep your mouth shut and be happy to have the choice between two solutions

Hey come on calm down.

I don't think the OP meant the quality of the plugin itself or the hard work which was invested by the author, but the way BD playback is solved altogether with this plugin. Saying that calling another app for BD playback and passing control to it is somewhat clunky is in no way offending IMHO.

Just my two cents.

grubi.

I don't want to argue with anybody. But he wrote "clunky PDVD plugin" and not "clunky way to watch BD". I think that's the point and there is no different way to understand it.
Enough offtopic. I don't like to discuss it. It's just my point of view.

Re: Bluray Handler 0.9.6 (BETA)

That's quite an overreaction. Unlike yourself I won't resort to telling people to shut up for expressing their opinions, even if they need to pull their heads in.

I meant no offence to any of the creators of that particular plugin, had it of not been created, I wouldn't of been able to view any BD media whatsoever.

It did require semi moderate input from myself to get it to work to my needs, no more than I needed to get this plugin going. What I meant by clunky was explained perfectly a couple of posts back. Simply being able to play Bluray within MP without having to resort to external players is ultimately what we as MP users strive to see.

Criticism is a part of life (especially on the internet), once again I never set out to rubbish the plugin in question. Equally, to think that it is not deserving of such criticism is ludicrous. If you are so sensitive to such a comment, don't bother doing anything that will be subjected to people's opinion's as you will live a longer life.

EDIT: I'll also add that a portion of my criticism toward the plugin is aimed at my dislike of PDVD in general, not only the plugin itself.

we shouldn't kill this thread. So let us stop to argue. If you feel to be attacked I would like to apologize for the words I used. Nevertheless your critisism should have been more precised.

over and out

    just B2T :D

    @ armand

i just did another test with a BR from usene**
it is "charly and the choclate-factory" (jonny depp version)
has the same structure than a BR - only smaler (about 8GIG)
but MePo allways say "index.bdmv" not playable"

m2ts and bdmv extensions are in MePo Config
also the latest BRHander 0.9.6 ...
    SAF5 beta1

    any idea

    PS:

i can start the movie out of Windows (MPC-HC)
when i use the 0000.mpls works fine ...
    i can't start it with the index.bdmv
under MePo nothing happens either i use mpls or bdmv

Your screenshot shows an incorrect Bluray folder-structure. You need to add the BDMV & CERTIFICATE folder first.

    Correct Blu-ray Folder Structure:
    Code:
    BDMV ----------------------------------- AUXDATA
CERTIFICATE ------------- BACKUP BACKUP ------------ BDJO
                                             BDJO CLIPINF
                                             CLIPINF PLAYLIST
                                             JAR
                                             META
                                             PLAYLIST
                                             STREAM

another question for that kind of files and BR-Structur

is it possible that the movie starts - by entering the folder?
    (like @ a DVD-file on HDD ?)
if i have a DVD as a file on my HDD -
MePo starts the movie by entering the folder
without navigating to a playlist or index file

@ BR-File on HDD i have to navigate to
    BR-Folder-Movie-Name\BDMV\index.bdmv
    and it starts

    @ DVD
    movie-folder-name
    and it starts

    EDIT:

maybe a default path to the index file?
    example:
    "BR-Folder-Movie-Name\BDMV\index.bdmv"

so default path for BR-Files on HDD
    "*\BDMV\index.bdmv"
