64bit is the MAIN reason this new direction was taken. It will be suported.

mm, with your last couple posts about sharing channels between tuners, I have to ask - does that mean things aren't going too well with 64-bit cablecard support?
    Not at all. :)

It kind of sounds like development is moving in a slightly different direction. Or is this just something that you came across while working on that 64-bit support, and it just kind of fit into the flow of development?
Something I came across that I thought people might appreciate.

    Heya everyone

    Quick question...
Earlier in the thread I recall a few people mentioning they wanted some way to share channels that are in-the-clear (not encrypted) between both CableCARD and other QAM tuners.
    @twemperor
Was it you that mentioned that?

At the time I think I said that would not be possible. Now with a little more knowledge I think it could be doable if switched digital video (SDV) and tuning adaptors (TA) are not involved.

So how many people would be interested in having support for that and could test it?
    mm

Yes, this is a configuration I would like to have. That way I can keep my existing QAM tuners for in-the-clear channels and increase the overall number of tuners. I do not need a TA with Verizon FiOS.

I am ready and willing to test the next drop!

New to thread but definitely excited about the development here.

Sharing of QAM channels across tuner cards is a nice feature since many of us probably already have a non-cable card tuner. But for instance in my HTPC case... slots are at a premium and I'll be swapping my old tuner card out for the Ceton when this is ready.

Does sound like a good feature though. (My #1 hope is the on-going efforts for 64-bit support though... just to add my vote to the discussion.)

Thanks mm (and everyone) for all the hard work.

Good news from Ceton if you are looking to buy a CableCARD tuner soon:

That looks nice does it only require one cable card. The hdhomerun that will do more than 3 requires 2 cable cards. Well this tuner be supported under MP with the cablecard.
From the Ceton web site requirements:
One Multi-stream CableCARD™ (M-Card), available from your cable TV provider

I believe the plan is to support this card with the work that mm is doing.

    Yes.

Yes, tested with one on a 64 bit system just two days ago. ;)
This is actually part of the hold-up. All was not quite working as intended. Waiting for Ceton to get back to us.

[edit: to be clear... Lyfesaver's InfiniTV 4 is now at the stage where it is working nicely. Scanning is done etc. etc. etc. Just something particular about the 6 tuner model. Was also waiting for MP 1.4 pre-release to drop. Now that has happened, hopefully won't be too long to wait...]

Yes, we would support the InfiniTV 6 ETH.
