Batter Up... Think I got it. Found something with the additional debug information I logged. Fingers crossed.

thx scythe...will test the new version as soon as possible.
Another thing i recognized...The windows screensaver cant be used if the option "keep mediaportal always on top" is enabled (talked about that a few days ago). The problem with this is, that if windows pops up an autostart dialog (if you plug in a USB Stick or mobile phone/ Tablet for charging, CD/DVD) or if Avira pops up his stupid commercial window, MP loses the focus and the autostart/windows dialog is in front of MP and you need a mouse to get MP back in front. Is there any possibility that the windows screensaver can be used if the "always on top" option has been set?

When a fullscreen form is set as always on top, Windows will not kick in the screen saver.

But please note that screen safer really means screen saver, power management like turning off the display still work fine.

Autostart? Turn it off for the media/device in question and Windows will not steal focus. It fully configurable inside Windows since ages.

You can even go a step further if you like by turning it off when an application starts if you want it on at other times. Should be simple script that turns it off, starts an application and afterwards turns it on again.

Avira? Hey, they want to make business that's why they nag you on purpose. They have to make a living, too. Use a different product, buy a license or even pirate it. There are enough options here for anyone.

I personally say: get a license of the AV product of your choice. It is not like the yearly subscription costs that much (25 bucks a year?). Come on. Deduct it from your income tax. Such elemental things go through without a hiccup.

Is there any possibility that the windows screensaver can be used if the "always on top" option has been set?
I am not aware of any Windows settings that allows the screen saver to kick in when some fullscreen form has always on top set.

@Scythe i totally agree with your opinion about the autostart issue and about Avira. For me thats not a problem because i am willing to disable everything i need to get MP work properly (until now there was no need to disable autostart of cds, usb sticks because i never saw the dialog windows). But i think other users may have a "problem" with that so if there is a easy way to enable screensaver while MP is set to be always on top...would be great. Otherwise we need at least a documentation of this behavior (MP always on top -> no windows screensaver) or we need to answer the question why its not working more often than we want to :).

A suggestion thought.... Could there be a button from inside MPconfiguration.exe which opens the windowsconfig screen to do that? Could be a user friendly solution for 'noobs'..like myself ofcourse ;) Or is this already documenten very well in wiki?

Underlying question ofcourse is: Do or can default settings in windows disrupt MP functionality? If I remember correctly, autostart DVD in WMP (default W7) caused me some difficulties... Judder etc.

ok just installed build 18c on my every day system we use in the lounge, specs are up to date in my spec list.

When i play say channel sky news and turn the amp off, wait a few seconds and turn the amp back on (twice tested this) the live tv is turned off and goes back to the tv guide as i presume is expected and still full screen (y) My amp is a Yamaha HTR 3063 in case you need this.

Now when i play an mkv hd file via moving pictures (not tested an sd one yet) i turn the amp off wait again and then when the amp is back on i am faced with the following in the two pics attached, now i know not every one is going to turn things off while its playing the film but just thought i would see what happened.
now the second of the pics did have the error message like in the first pic.

same again with hd movie.jpg turned amp off while playing a hd mkv movie in moving pictures.jpg

if this is out of scope or you need anything else just say.[DOUBLEPOST=1366201342][/DOUBLEPOST]ok further tests and this does not seem to do this on sd mkvs only hd ones.

    @Atomic7431
please test it with standard video plugin instead of MovingPictures and report back if you can reproduce issues described above.

Nah, I think anyone is able to google for "autoplay settings".

If we think enabled autoplay during MP in full-screen is a bad choice then we prevent it when MP is running in full screen. Should be the QueryCancelAutoPlay event. Windows is actually so nice and allows applications to register for tons of events...

If you think it should be this way, open up a Mantis so nobody forget about it.

MP needs way less options to make it simpler for users.

Having options or buttons for everything imaginable is not a good thing. It makes stuff unnecessary complex just for some special cases. Only because there could be someone who needs something a different way for his special user case?

Trying to make it right for everyone results in don't getting it right at all.
