You need to use EVR not VMR9 or Overlay etc...
Also note it must be the ultra deluxe version, but is does not need to be registered. (without the key the program doesn't run but other programs can use the codec)

Do you have an h.264 codec installed? e.g. PowerDVD 7 Ultra (as mentioned above)?

The connect to remote graph box showed nothing inside it. I may have stuffed up the install -reinstalling codecs etc. I will try again tomorrow as I have other things I also have to do. I appreciated your assistance greatly.Try this:
Start playing a dvb-t channel then open graphedit and on the file menu click connect to remote graph you should just see 1, connect to it, have a look at the codecs/renderers that are being used.
