I've been using a 780G with amd dual core ht3 procesor (forget which one) and it does TV3 1080i no problem. Using vector adaptive and Powerdvd 8 Codec with hardware acceleration enabled
I'm using a built-in 780G (HD3200) as well with Phenom triple core. With MP 1.00 I was using vector adaptive and PDVD8 codec with no problems.

Since installing MP 1.1 I've not been able to use vector adaptive. The highest I could go was Bob deinterlacing for 1080i without stuttering. Since updated to PDVD10 and can now use plain vector but not adaptive. But it still looks very good to me.

This is a Vista PC. What is your Windows version?

Seems like I spoke too soon in thinking I was all set. For some reason any time I try to watch TV is crashes. Cant even use the timeshift in manual control either :(

Back to the drawing board trying to work out what the problem is.

Any idea why when I convert from .ts to .avi (or similar) video goes OK but no sound? I'm using AVS video converter this time round, but have had similar problems every other time I've tried with other programs. Is it just an NZ thing?

    Hi,

I have been using an older version of Handbrake to convert from ts to avi and it works brilliantly.

If you haven't used this before and would like some details of the settings I use, let me know.

It's an NZ thing. As far as I know there is no splitter/demultiplexer filter available which supports the LATM AAC+ audio track. I've managed to use Handbrake with TV3 recordings as they include a AC3 audio track, but no other channels.

I'm still waiting for a solution.

My Main HTPC (Client) failed last night . Worked fine when we went to bed on Monday but refused to turn on last night. Well I hope to sort out the hardware this afternoon but this is a good opportunity to upgrade from 1.0.2.

Just before the upgrade I have a few questions that one of you may be able to answer.

I have a multiseat install with 1 server and 3 clients. I will upgrade the server first end then the clients so here are my questions.

    * Do i need to run my TV Server on Win7 or can I use my current (Stable) installation of WinXP.
    * I didn't need any codecs on the TVSERVER previously on WinXp, so do I need to install any codecs for MP1.1 on the server.
    * Is there a way to export my current recording schedule and then import it into the new version
    * do I still have a choice between sql-express and mysql? which is preferred?

I have decided to give 4theRecord a try,

    * Do I need to install 4TR on the Server or the client or both?
    * Do I need to install it on all clients or can some worth without 4TR
    * Is it best to use MP to Tune (DVB-S) or should I use 4TR tuner

    Thanks for your advice :)

Dont have to upgrade to Win7 if its working fine

    * I didn't need any codecs on the TVSERVER previously on WinXp, so do I need to install any codecs for MP1.1 on the server.

If its only a TV Server then no codecs required unless you want to preview the streams on the TV Server itself?

    * Is there a way to export my current recording schedule and then import it into the new version

Judt redo it in FTR... its so easy.

    * do I still have a choice between sql-express and mysql? which is preferred?

FTR people say the express works faster, i use mysql myself and it seems fine

*Do I need to install 4TR on the Server or the client or both?

Both, but different components.. ones a tv server plugin, one is a MPTV replacement plugin, then you have the console etc

    * Do I need to install it on all clients or can some worth without 4TR
You dont HAVE to install it, but on those clients, you will not be able to view recordings done in FTR and some other changes they did to the TV Plugin

    * Is it best to use MP to Tune (DVB-S) or should I use 4TR tuner
Dont know sorry, i went with the MP one as it was working well for me in the past (DVB-S too)

EDIT: Looks like mastyman and I were typing at the same time...

Would have thought XP was fine - others will have more advice here..

    ..
    * Is there a way to export my current recording schedule and then import it into the new version
.. well there would be if you were already using 4TR...

    ..
    * do I still have a choice between sql-express and mysql? which is preferred?

Check the 4TR install guide first - they recommend one but I can't remember which it is...

    ..
I have decided to give 4theRecord a try,

    Good move :D

    ..

4TR must be installed on the Server and the Clients

    ..
    * Is it best to use MP to Tune (DVB-S) or should I use 4TR tuner

I use the MP TV Server to tune TV (4TR is just a plugin that uses this info) - I want to give Argus (the 4TR tuner a try) but I haven't had a chance to work out how the satellite settings work - let me know if you get it sorted :)

Good luck - gperkinson is an expert at installing 4TR now so he'll be able to help you out here :)

Thanks for your quick response guys.

Now I just have to decide if I want to attempt the TV server install remotely using RDP, or do I wait till I get home :)

Another question Regarding 4TR. Does it import the existing recording Schedule? If so Can I install it on my current server, then import the schedule and then export it using 4TR?
