Not sure if you have already tried this but when i was mucking around with this a couple of months ago i was recieving all channels EPGs from the DVBS card and just assigned the analoge ones to the same name as the digital ones. Then i didnt need XMLTV at all.

hi all, i have just recently found out about DVB and have brought a TwinHan pci card and setup mediaportal (i'm in auckland). i have had very few issues with this. i am receiving EPG for all channels and get crystal clear qualit.y. the only issues i am having now are glitches when playing mp3s via my music and the same kinds of glitches when watching divx through my videos. the music/video seems to jump 1sec ahead every so often, anybody else having/had this problem???

p.s any setup probs you may be having id gladly help out =o)

hmm.... I'm assuming also that you're doing a refresh EPG each time you try something new right? Coz the data doesn't get overwritten each time you import. ....

Hey Rhys it looks like you hit it on the head there!! :D  :D (luckily because I didn't want to have to do all the other stuff  )

I deleted my tvguide.xml file, re-ran the BAT file (with +1200) then immediately refreshed the EPG in TV Server, which sorted Prime :) UNFORTUNATELY all the Digital channels got toasted (no data available) and the EPG wouldn't refresh or even run "EPG Refresh" for that mater for some reason  I left it for a few hours and clicked a few buttons later on and it refreshed - not exactly sure why though.. Any ideas??

Does this mean that I can't set XMLTVNZ to run automatically because TVServer will import the new file, but nothing will change? Is it always going to be a manual process? - not too worried if it is (as long as it works) but if it can be automated that's always preferable...

So are you saying that the DVB-S signal/EPG includes Prime even though it's not a digital channel? I'm not exactly sure what you've done here..

Another question - does the setting "record every week at this time" (i.e. Record a series) cause problems in TV Server? I think I read somewhere that it did...

I'm stoked with Media Portal compared to MCE '05 - I love being able to "pimp my HTPC!" :D

Ah great! Glad you got it sorted, no prime is not included with DVB-S EPG but if you had 1,2,3,4 in analog as well as digital then you can combine channels then set a priority on a card so, try the digital card but if it's in use then use the analog card.

As far as the refresh goes, you can tell the dvb-s re-grab to occur more often(Under general settings) by default I think it's set to 240mins but you could set it to 5mins while you're playing around with it. But even then I've seen it take ages to re-grab after a refresh EPG. The other night I did a refresh EPG and waited a couple of hours and it still hadn't done it even though it was set to re-grab every 5mins, I gave up went to bed and in the morning it was all there, so who knows! But yes you can run the xmltvnz on a windows scheduled task and every time tvserver sees that the tvguide.xml has changed it will re-import it, it just won't overwrite programs that are already there it will only import new programs for days that aren't already in the database. So yes fortunately the process is 100% automatic! :)

Another question - does the setting "record every week at this time" (i.e. Record a series) cause problems in TV Server? I think I read somewhere that it did...
Not that I know of but I haven't used this schedule before I normally use "Record Every time on this channel"

Same here. I had only been doing it for prime, only just realized the other day that Uhf Sky has the same programes run at the the same time as the sat Sky.

Just need to scan all the sky channels then edit them with Frequency,Channel # and assign them to the right card.

Do you mean you can get the epg from the sky digital channels via DVB-S even though it's encrypted?

Yea, I dont use xmltvz anymore. You just need to scan the sat channels then edit them by adding analoge frequency's and the channel number if it's a internal card [Prime] or just change it to external receiver if its from a set top box :)

Hmm, ok but won't it try to play the channel using DVB-S

    *Edit*
Righto. I've combined my sky channels with analog and set my analog card to higher priority than the DVB-S. Gets the EPG everything works sweet!

    hey all,

I'm just starting to think about getting freeview and using MP (I use MP already but only with my videos/photos/radio/mp3s) -

a friend of mine has freeview running on a gbpvr box, and says TV1 and TV2 drop out occasionally (well, his words were it takes ages to change to tv1 or tv2 - up to 20minutes, and that the epg drops out a lot as that is transmitted over the tvnz freq)

Have any of you had this sort of trouble with media portal? It sounds strange to me!
