Calling all MP New Zealanders (Both of you!!) (29 Viewers)

I have installed the Skystar2 Card, and have managed to find the correct LNB frequency (11300) and do a channel scan using the supplied software with the card. It finds the channels and I get a picture. So far so good.

I have an old Sky dish with One LNB.

Now I want to configure Mediaportal. I have just done a clean install of the stable release of Mediaportal (0.2.2.0). In the setup for the capture card on the Autotune tab, I enter The following details

LNB0: 0
Switch: 0
LNB1: 11300
DiSEqC: None
LNB: Ku-Band
Tone: 22KHz
Satelite: SkyTV on Optus B1 (160E)

Running a Scan with these settings produces no results.

I tried editing the .tpl file as suggested in this forum, but that made no difference

I am assuming I don't need to configure TV3 Engine to use Freeview with Mediaportal, but it seems all the setup help I could find in the forum was for the TV3 engine.

What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmmm, Yeah I seen some strange things like this with TV2 when you putting in different LNB settings. You don't need the 22khz tone. I don't think that will cause the problem though. Are the LNB settings sticking if leave the scanning page?

I think its a logic problem try some combinations of the following:
Tick 2 LNB and set them both to the same satellite (D1) and try to scan.
Even if you don't get any channels just leave mpsetup and go back in, if the LNB settings (11300 etc) are still there then there is a better chance that it will work. Failing that. Delete
c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log\MediaPortal.log
just before you click scan for channels, then as soon as it finishes scanning attach c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log\MediaPortal.log so we can have a look at what's going on

One other thing... While scanning with MP, open up setup4PC from the system tray and have a look at the status of the card you'll be able to see what LNB settings are actually being sent to the card.

Excellent, thank you. Your tip about looking at the setup4pc while it was scanning showed me the problem. The tpl file had the polarity set to Vertical. Changed it to Horizontal and bingo I now have the channels.

Now I have a couple of other problems.

1. I use xmlTVNZ for my guide. When I go to the guide in MP, I get no data, but the tvguide.xml file is up to date. Any ideas?

2. The aspect ratio for TV1 & TV2 are good, but for TV3 & C4 I have to set it to stretch to get it in 4:3. Then when I go back to TV1 or TV2 I have to set the aspect ratio back to normal. This will become a little frustrating after a while.

Is there data in your SQL Database?
At the moment the V2 XMLTVNZ has problems and a Version3 is in Beta.

One thing to check, have a look at "tomorrows" data in MediaPOrtal and see if you have data? Is it todays programmes but listed for tomorrow.

Ive found in TVe3 that I had to have a -12 offset for XMLTVnz

I think philster is using TV2 so no sql? Have you specified the path to your xml file correctly? Try deleting the file and re-creating it.

Yeah TV3/C4 aspect ratios are a pain, I'm using the blue (on MCE remote) aspect ratio button all the time to get the best picture. It depends on the program. Simpsons eg I use zoom mode on my 4:3 TV and then it look normal.

Hi all, just taking a quick look at philsters settings i think the problem may be the "tone 22khz" i think that should be unticked (from memory only as i dont think tvengine3 has this option.

** edit, sorry all, clearly speed reading is not my thing, as the main problem was already solved.

If tv data not showing up my experience has been that it can be due to the channel names being different form the xmltvnz channel names, e.g. TVone (as picked up by the channel scan) and TV1 as created by xmltvnz, solution is to rename the channels within the mp tv setup to exactly the same as the XMLTVNZ, i.e. TV1, TV2, TV3 and C4. Hope this helps

Hi All

Yes I am using TV2. The correct folder is being pointed to in the setup.

I have completely emptied away the Resource and Cache directories under the XMLTV directory and recreated the tvguide.xml file using xmltvnz.exe.

I have renamed the channels in the channels list to match the "display-name" (TV1,TV2,TV3,C4,Maori) in the tvguide.xml. The tvguide.xml file has data in it for today, and the next 5 days. Skipping forward on the Guide sceen in MP shows "no data available" for the next 5 days.

It isn't trying to get an EPG from the satelite is it?

Ok, a little more info.

I just went into the channels setup and clicked the import from TVGuide button.

I get the following error message.

Error: Invalid XML File: Year, Month, and Day parameters describe an un-representable DateTime.


A sample from the tvguide.xml as follows:

start="200706020830" stop="200706020930"

Any ideas ?

what time/date settings do you have in your windows regional settings? Is it set to US date format maybe? Here is the xmltvnz command I use
xmlTVNZ.exe ..\tvguide.xml -seconds -offset +1200 -noicons prime AltTV sky_sky1 sky_movies1 sky_sport1 sky_juice sky_nickelodeon sky_discovery

try the "-seconds" option. (Mind you I use TV3 not TV2)

btw way should be getting guide from the satellite for channels 1,2,3,4.

Rhys is on the mark again. The -seconds did the trick. I was using the same command line from my previous version of MP. Something must of changed between versions, as I did not need the -sedonds parameter before.
