I have problems with the cam limit after upgrade to RC6, cam limit is set to 3 but I can only watch or record one channel.
The strange thing is that it worked before the channel scan.
If i delete the channnels and i import a old channallist made in RC3 (i think), then the cam limit works again.
I also have done a fresh install, but te problem stays.
In RC4 the cam limit woked also after a new channal scan.

steps to reproduce
- enable only one tv card
- set the cam limit on 3 (i use 3 but probably other numbers higher then 1 will cause the same problem)
- do a new channal scan
- record a encrypted channel
- watch another encrypted channel one the same transponder
- then i get "unable to start timeshift" !!

steps to repair the cam limit
- delete all channals and import a old channallist from RC4 or before
- then i can watch and record 3 encrypted channals on the same transponder !!

Can you try RC5 so we can narrow this down? I don't have a CAM, so I cannot check.

There should be no changes from RC5 to RC6 that would affect this, so I'm guessing that RC5 will also be broken.

It is strange that importing your old channel list works.

I can confirm the CAM limit seems broken. I'm on DVB-T.
Tune to TV3 - start recording.
Then try to tune to Kanal 5 which is on the same TP - MP says "no free card available".
I've set my CAM limit to 4, on my FireDTV.

    Attaching logs.

When I upgraded to RC5 I had also sometimes the "unable to start timeshift" message when recording, but i did no further research. I can not test it now, maybe tomorrow.
I'm sure that rc4 doesn't have this behaviour.
I have a hauppauge dvb-s nova and a digital devices cine s2 card, but the problem occurs with both cards.

this a a part of the working channel list on the tested transponder.

    I can confirm

    way to reproduce here;
    1 - start a scrambled recording
2 - start watching the same channel (timeshifting)
3 - try to start another ch on the same mux/transponder on the same card - then no card available
4 - start FTA ch on another card
5 - now u have all cards free again, and u can start the ch tried in “3”!!

    cant upload logs now

    Hi,

It seems we do have a problem.

Could you all please check whether this is working in RC5, and if not then RC4. We need to narrow this down.

When you do this, please do not rely on your memory of what you think happened. We need this testing now to be absolutely sure so that we can find the cause and fix it quickly.

Thanks for reporting and best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi,

Can you please confirm the suspicions of the developers that RC3 scans channels and gets the freetoair information correct, but RC4 gets the information incorrect?

I know you said that channels exported from RC4 work, but that doesn't mean you scanned them in RC4.

If a clean install of RC4 gets it right, then we need to think again.

We really do need the help from the community in fixing this rather serious problem.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    This is the weird part:

    Code:
2010-07-05 10:13:03.578125 [(13)]: Controller: card:4 type:DvbS is tuned to same transponder decrypting 1/3 channels. cam limit reached

i will dive in to this and see what's the cause of that since i am quite familiar with the card allocation code.
