Odd question these days, I know.

I want to give my Zotac ZBox (used as a Linux testing machine) to a friend who now grew out of my very old Popcorn Hour. He still has an SD TV, because his provider cannot send HD channels to him (too far away for IPTV and his VDSL connection). No other provider possible in his area that can offer faster speed and digital TV. He's in the process of upgrading over Winter to HD by using a satellite dish after his land lord finally gave the OK. So far so good.

I want to give him the same configuration I use at the moment and ran since three years, which means skins and plugins plus my modifications and other tools for a living room PC, so that everything runs as it does for me. It will make support also very easy for me.

Because I don't have a SD TV lying around I cannot test it. My Atom based Zotac ZBox will be my Christmas present to him and his wife/kids. So I cannot just go over and test it since nobody in his family should know. And all my other friends have already moved on to HD or don't own a TV at all anymore.

So does StremedMP work on SD? I don't care if it look somewhat crappy for now. HD is coming soon for him.

I'm also open for massive tweaks I can remove later or even recompile stuff.

If not possible at all, what SD skin supports Moving Pictures and TV Series for now in a decent way beside no additional skin at alll?

Would be awesome if you guys could help me out supplying a nearly perfect setup for Christmas Eve they just need to plugin and enjoy the wonders of my massive storage array I quietly connected over a VPN tunnel, when I upgraded his retail shop network a few months ago ;-)

Well.. if your friends SD TV is 4:3 you will have problems with a 16:9 skin. Overlapping etc.. I guess this won't look good.
You could have a look at aMPed 4:3 or PureVision 4:3...

The Problem solved itself. I donwloaded a service manual. It's an HD-Ready TV, not an SD TV as he told me. So it accepts 720p Signals over component or 1360x768 over DVI. But since he never had any HD over IPTV he didn't know. Also there was never and stuff with logos on it. He thought it was just a large sized normal plasma TV. And my old Popcorn Hour was configured for PAL output over SVideo. What a shame...

Problem Solved :D. Let's see if a I have a long cable DVI Cable somewhere...

Indeed, with a resolution of 1360×768 there should be no problems with this skin. It scales well. My laptop got this resolution too. =)
