Can you record TV when you have Dish Network? (1 Viewer)

I have always ignored the TV features of MePo because I figured I couldn't change channels on my satellite receiver automatically. Is that true, or is there some way that works so I could use my HTPC like a DVR?

No, it is *not* true. You can use an analog tuner with capture inputs or a Hauppauge Colossus or HD-PVR to connect the STB to your PC and use a blaster to tell the STB to change channels behind the scenes when you want to change channels in MP.

I've been doing this for years (with various software). Although I'm using Bell Expressvu receivers, it's the same thing you'll be doing. It takes a bit of time to set up initially, but once you're done it just works...
