Cannot connect to TV Server (1 Viewer)

AAArrrg I'm back.

Tried to add another client in another room today and I've lost TV on the original client although I can still get TV on the PC which is the server. The message I get on both is lost connection to the TV server. If I go into TV it asks me to update the server details with the IP address or PC name, if I change to IP it makes no difference and eventually says it has a connection to the database, ports are fine but it can't connect to the TV server.

I have added the server and the client to the new PC host file and I have added the new client to the host file on the server. I have also now gave all PC's fixed IP address's as follows.

Server
IP 192.168.1.100
subnet mask 225.225.225.0
default gateway 192.168.1.1
Prefered DNS 192.168.1.1

Client 1
IP 192.168.1.103
subnet mask 225.225.225.0
default gateway 192.168.1.1
Prefered DNS 192.168.1.1

Client 2
IP 192.168.1.104
subnet mask 225.225.225.0
default gateway 192.168.1.1
Prefered DNS 192.168.1.1

I don't really know what I'm doing with the above so could well be that.

I have now adjust the IP settings as I may of had conflicts between the DHCP range and the IPs I had given. The set up now seems to work well from a network point of view but I still have issues with the TV clients not connecting to the client, I can now sometimes see the EPG but it will now start the TV channel and the gives back the message of connection to TV server lost.

Anyone have any ideas?

Port 554 is used for RTSP streaming control. The video and audio data is sent over high range "anonymous" ports. Have you tried disabling firewalls to see if it makes a difference? We have had reports of problems with firewalls especially on 64 bit versions of W7 in the last year. MP and TV Server must have access to public *and* private ports. Sometimes it also helps to re-add exceptions. Having said that I'm completely guessing about what could be going on here. It would help if you could post logs [for the client *and* server] showing what happens when you have the problem.

I've got it all going now not sure what it was, probably some mix up with ips and then the server had to be reset anyway going now. Epg next

Greetings MP people,
I ended up at this thread because I just had this problem pop up today but it turns out the cause was different.

FYI for anyone who is running MediaPortal on Windows 7: Microsoft foisted upon me an "important" security update to the VC++ 2010 redistributable runtime (KB2467173).
After that the TV Server wouldn't connect.
I used system restore to go back to the point before the update was installed and hey presto it worked again.

I can confirm the above problem.
I have been using the TV-server across my network for a week now, from a Win7 64 Pro server to both a win7 premium and a XP Pro on a domain.
Now all of a sudden, neither client can connect. The client on the server machine still can.
I did nothing... However, the Win7 server might have updated itself.
If I disable the server firewall both clients can connect. The rules allowing mediaportal, tv server and tv setup anything on both tcp and udp are in place and active. I even extended them to be active for any network, still nothing.
What to do? I'm not too fond of running a server with no firewall...
