Cannot find S channels in mediaportal? (1 Viewer)

I have a little issue, where some channels are located as an "S" channel from the provider. All the other channels are "K" channels.
I have no idea, what this S and K stands for, other than it is specified by the TV provider.

In MediaPortal, the K channels are OK. If the K channel is specified as K20, I juster enter 20 as channel in MediaPortal TV-Server.
But, I have no idea, howto add these S channels. If the S channel is specified as S10, and I add it as 10, it is not working. No signal, or wrong channel. I cannot add it as S10 in mediaportal.

I have tried to add the frequency, and as channel 0, but this is not working either. Any ideas?

The TV card is a Hauppage PVR-500.

You must specifiy either the channel, or *both* channel and frequency. If you only use channel number then Windows determines the frequency to tune from the channel number, country and source type (aerial or cable) that you select. If you use the channel number and frequency then the frequency should be tuned.

I suspect that the K may stand for "kabel" - as in cable. I have no idea what S stands for though. Could you call or email the provider and ask?

You can't set the channel number to 0 when you set the frequency - it must be non-zero. Also that method may not be reliable as I think it is only able to work with channel numbers up to 10 or 11 (ie. aerial channel numbers). That is outside our control.

Again, why not just use the "scan for TV channels" function and rename the channels? Unless you only have 10 channels it would probably be much faster.

When this is said, the info also says, that older TVs might be unable to recieve these special channels. And since the tuner, is quite old, this could be why?

Well, it was because the scanning did not find these channels. But I think the tuner is to blame!

Okay. Are you able to list the channel numbers and frequencies or provide a link so that I can have a look?

That could be the reason, yes. If you do a full TV scan then TV Server will scan the full range of channels that the tuner is able to tune to. If you provide me with the tv.log file (click "open log directory" in the top left corner of TV Server configuration - the file is there) I can check the tuner frequency limits.
