Cannot Play TV With Any Codecs (1.2.0) (2 Viewers)

mm1352000 - Okay, I have posted two logs for you. Both use the MPC codec for video and audio decoding (I find this one to have the smoothest playback; if you would rather me use something else, please let me know and I'll be happy to do so). The first log is a standard Team MP version, playing a file through the video plugin; the second is using the "Report To Plugin Developer" option, so that I could load 4TR and play both recorded then live TV. I tried to load subtitles in both scenarios, but alas, I write with great regret, I was unable to see any.

To both of you, from both my wife and I, thank you so very much for trying to solve this. We both really want the captions to work, so we appreciate all your efforts. Good luck!

I think that MPC Codec didn't work with Captions, i'm not sure @ 100%. Does it works with Microsoft DVD Decoder ?
I will look @ the log

@ Sebastiii - Thanks for the reply! I just tried it again with the DTV-DVD decoders, and while the CC1 option is there and is successfully selected, no captions are displayed.

One observation though, I notice that the playback seems chuggy with the Microsoft decoders. I don't recall these decoders being that sluggish before 1.2.0. I don't know if that means anything to you, but it does seem noticeably different now.

Maybe something change with Microsoft Decoder.
I can't really test because i have CC1 show up because filter (Microsoft / PowerDVD) has an output CC pin so it connect to EVR Filter even if no CC1 is present (at least for me here in France).

But CC1 work for US guys Greybox manage to make it work. In actual patch it fix the issue (TV don't start if lastindex subtitle stay @ "-1") so normally it should work.
Can you test, if you have it PDVD codec too ?
Are you sure that TV channel has CC ?
Also, i have tested on DVD with CC1 and it's working.

Migue or Sebastiii will be able to answer this better but I'm pretty sure that you need really specific codecs and post-processing settings to get CCs working, so it might not be a matter of choice. Have a read of this and this post).

Based on MisterD's information I'd say that CC for analog TV *really* is luck-of-the-draw. Your comments confirm that your PVR150s support CCs, which is a good start. The next thing that you apparently require is the line 21 decoder - that should be standard with Windows 7. At present it looks like the MediaPortal DVBSub2 filter is being used instead of the line 21 filter - it is as if you have enabled subtitles, but not CCs. I'm not sure how to enable CCs for TV because although there are teletext and DVB subtitle settings, there is no CC setting. Ignoring that for the moment, I'd suggest that you stick with the Microsoft codec - it is reported to work in a number of places.

So that would be the first thing to test - see if you can get CCs from *live* TV viewing. Getting CCs out of TV recordings like what you appear to be expecting at the moment (based on your logs) completely relies on your tuner encoding the CCs in such a way that they won't be lost - there is no guarantee of that whatsoever. Like I said: best to check *live* CCs first, then try CCs from recordings once you know you have the right configuration, and if you're interested try installing the CCCP filter to get ATSC CC.

After doing some testing on my setup, I'm unable to have CC on analog Recorded TV. Only Live TV has CC for analog broadcasts.

It's disappointing that they seem to not be available (I say that with all due respect, no insult intended). Folks in that NA CC thread seemed so sure it would happen.

I use Microsoft's Codecs for all video, nothing else.
Investigating more this is what graphedit shows when playing recorded analog. Line21 output from video codec does not connect to line21 filter's input pin.
With Live TV most of the times it connects pins but sometimes the same thing happens.

I guess it depends on expectations. If you expect them to work in live TV then that might be realistic. Recordings are a different story though as we've already mentioned. The way these things are encoded (in the vertical blanking interval) is not condusive to storage in a digital medium. Conversion to some other digital format (DVB or teletext subtitles...???) is required. Some tuners do the conversion. Those are the ones that would work with the current arangement. We would have to do the conversion for those tuners that don't do it, and my understanding is that would be *hard*...

@Sebastiii: what is your plan, and can I help? I have access to analog tuners here although I'm 99% sure there is no CC information available. There is teletext though...
