Hi there,
I got mediaportal working with the latest SVN and my SKYstar HD with a motor dish DISECQ.
But then I removed it and bought TWO hauppauge HVR4000. I followed the instructions in order to set the hybrid cards.
I got a splitter/amplifier so both the cards are fed. THe point is that in TV server · somtimes I could scan the channels, so I downgraded to an earlier version...then I could scan the channels even the cards moved the dish to find channels on the second satellite (hotbird). Sometimes I could preview the channels on TV server and then...NOTHING APPEARS ON MEDIAPORTAL MY TV SECTION, no channels no groups..nothing. I can see th3e preview but nothin on mediaportal myTV.
Now on my TV I got a lot of "no audio/video detected" error.
any helo would be more than appreciated. How can I set this up,the 2 HVR4000 with motor.
thx

Know there are a lot of compaints about tuning errors on the last few driver releases on the hauppauge.co.uk website, what was the original software CD issue that came with this card.

The main thing is, if you set it up first with the hauppauge software, does it work then.

You do know this card is a single tuner.

I installed the wintv software and I could watch TV,even HD,on it. But not on mediaportal so I removed it.
the thing is...I can see channels on the TV server but then on mediaportal....nothing appears even on the channel list.
I'm installing mediaportal stable release and set tv server with only ONE dvb-s card leaving the rest unable.
hope this works, scanning channels right now

I can see the channels on the tvserver but not on mediaportal,no channels on the channel list on mediaportal whilst I can see the whole list and even preview any channel on the tv server, any hint?

    Hi bellota

I use two HVR-4000s in TVE3. I used to use DVB-S but currently use DVB-T.

When I used DVB-S I used a twin LNB on the dish (well, it was actually a quad but I wasn't using two of the LNBs). I thought (although I may be wrong) that each DVB-S tuner (on a card or in a Set Top Box) needed to be connected to its own LNB. This is because a LNB can only tune to one transponder at a time so if two cards are trying to tune to two different transponders (and Astra 2D I used to use has 4) it causes a conflict.

From the details you have given you have said you are using a splitter rather than a twin LNB. This may be why everything worked OK with one SKYstar HD but there are problems with two HVR-4000s. There again it could be something completely different, but it is just a thought as to what the problem might be.

By the way I am still using the 3.4b version of the drivers from around May 2007. These have worked fine for the 2 cards using the DVB-S tuners and now the DVB-T tuners (I haven't used both at once as a hybrid card setup yet).

I should also mention I do not use DiSEqC so I can't help too much with the motor. The only thing is that I have read on the Hauppauge forums that the HVR-4000 drivers only currently support DiSEqC 1.0, which is switching between 4 LNBs. You would need DiSEqC 1.2 or above for motor control.

I hope some of this helps

    Can't scan 1st LNB

    To MEW:

I have another problem. can't scan 1-st LNB.

My system has one HVR-4000 two 4-in-1 DiSEqC switch and 3 twin LNBs. 1-Sirius 5E, 2-Amos 4W and 3-Hotbird 13E. One DiSEqC switch connected to Set Top Box tuner and second to HVR-4000. Than I try to scan 1st LNB I get no signal message on all transponders. But 2nd and 3rd scans all transponders well and I get long list of channels. Set Top Box tuner scans all LNBs with no problem.

Additionally I try some other Sat software ProgDVB, WintTv and Cyberlink PowerCinema. They also not scan 1st LNB.

So I guess problem with drivers, or maybe in settings.

Can you suggest how I can solve the problem.

Also can you say which version of drivers do you use?

    Hi wladko

I am afraid I do not have any experience of using DiSEqC on multi LNBs. When I was using DVB-S with a Quad LNB set-up, it was a physical single LNB unit with one feedhorn but 4 outputs which could be controlled independently. I used two of these with one connected to each of my HVR-4000s. While I was tuned to 2 different satellites on each card they were very close together (at 28.5E and 28.8E) so TV Server only needed to use one LNB for each card to scan.

I think there are issues with the HVR-4000 as has been posted on the Hauppage forums (http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=14207) by chemelli (who is also posts on these forums). Another thread is here http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=13647
This is possibly what is causing the problem, if I understand the posts correctly, as you say you are experiencing it in all software, not just MediaPortal.

I am still using v3.4b of the drivers. I didn't switch to v4.0 because it said they didn't support HD. That said, from what I understand, the older drivers didn't support DVB-S2 properly as there were parameters missing. This was mentioned on these forums and I don't know if it has been fixed. I am not sure if Hauppauge's not about the drivers being "Standard Definition only" is because they are Media Center of Vista drivers and Media Center and Vista do not support non-USA HD (only Vista supports USA HD).

I probably could switch to 4.0 (or 4.1 that seemed to change quickly from being the current driver to pre-release) as I am currently only using DVB-T and it is working fine for me. I have put up my new satellite dish but can not get any signal. It may be due to some trees that I did not think were in the line of sight of the satellite but may be. I may have to resort to calling in a professional installer when I get round to it.

I am sorry I couldn't be any more help.
