Hi:
I have installed the latest version of mediaportal and TV server, but I can not get the TV Server to work properly. When I go to preview a channel using the TV server config tool, I get "unknown error preview failed" message. If I go into mediaportal and try to watch TV I get a different error message, "unable to start time shifting" This is all very strange because, if I install power cinema 5, everything in mediaportal works perfectly. If i uninstall powercinema, at breaks and stop working, throwing the errors as described above. So you know, I have been using powercinema on my htpc but want to change over to mediaportal. It seems like it maybe a codec problem. I have tried various codec backs but no luck. I have installed mediaportal with a clean install, nothing else on the system except the recomended codecs but nothing. I really do not want to go back to poercinema, so if anyone can shed some light on what I am missing, I would be most grateful.

when i look at the log files this is what I see:

tv log file: no audio encode found. you must install a compatiable audio encoder
tvserver error: no audio decompressor loaded

please, anyone who can tell me what to do:) I am sure that it is just a tick box somewhere.

I think that you have already found the solution:-

if I install power cinema 5, everything in mediaportal works perfectly.
You need the encoders that come with power cinema 5 to enable the leadtek winfast pxTV1200 to work correctly with MediaPortal ... ;)

thanks for your reply :) ....ok, so can I get them without having to install powercinema 5 or do I just have to bite the bullet and have it on my system anyway?

The easiest solution is to install power cinema 5 - even though you are not actually using power cinema 5, you need the drivers and encoders that are installed with that application. It won't do any harm to have it installed alongside MediaPortal, since you will only be using MediaPortal for TV.
