Actually it did work for me and all was a new fresh install just a few days ago and then just stopped working. And then I had used Gooses excellent guide how to use ffdshow. What i did to correct this error was to install the newest SVN build which had both audio and video codecs in the install menu and now im using the MPC codec that was installed with the SVN instead. But i really do want to use ffdshow codecs...

Sound\Video drivers seem to be the most easily affected bit of software going, its amazes me how many people tut tut the idea, until it proves to be correct.
3 fixes done by this in the past 7 days, if my memory is correct

All it may take is one bad shutdown from my experience and things just go out of the windows (sorry for the pun, could not resist).
