enable timeshift does nothing out of the ordinary, other than cause the HDD activity to be constant (which is why i disable it) - not excessivly constant, just enough for it to be annoying though :)

so if enabling timeshift works, and you do not get black|mute MyTV when TS enabled, i need the logs of such an "recording - black|mute MyTV" event.

ah wait.. i didn't mean that the black TV doesn't happen when timeshifting is enabled.
i meant that i don't have any system issues with it enabled.

i haven't tried recording when timeshifting is on already.

also to note... the problem is only that the screen is black... the sound IS still there.

you may have vobsub installed? or a codec/filterpack?

you tried with MPV as codec?

and please show us logs of such a Black MyTV event :)

MPV and MPA is part of MediaPortal 0.2.0.0, svn and stable builds. it would be good if you could check it with this codec too, since we allready have seen issues with the PureVideo codec in the past.

running the test just now.... rather than just being a "black" screen.. it seems to stay on a frozen image from the previous channel it was on.

pressing ESC or back to go back to the TV menu and then moving back to Live TV seems to bring back the recording channel as viewable

this test is with timeshifting turned off before the recording started.

have also noticed that the recording has a stutter every 2 seconds or so - but STOPS stuttering when press ESC to go back to the tv menu.

will post logs in about 20 mins or so once the scheduled recording has finished

    here are the logs

i noticed a lot of stuff in the errors log which stopped at approx 20:10. this was the time when i pressed ESC to go back to the TV menu. previous to that it was frozen on an image from the previous channel (although the correct sound was playing)

have zipped the error and mediaportal log.. as they were both 12Mb each after only 40 mins use of MediaPortal !!!!

NOTE : this is with timeshifting turned off before the scheduled recording started

    thank you for the logs!

have you also tried to simply switch on Timeshift when watching MyTV?
    what happens then?

logs from this situation (turn on timeshift with running MyTV) would be very helpful too :)

switching on timeshiting while watching TV has no adverse effect.

here are the logs for this.

    1) loaded mediaportal
    2) went to "My TV"
    3) viewed Live TV (timeshifting was off)
    4) went back to TV menu
    5) turned on timeshifting
    6) view Live TV
    7) went back to TV menu
    7) turned off timeshifting
