Some channels won't display (seems to tune, but can't find audio/video) with MP, but DO tune/display with WMC
The attached log show tuning FOX News at 2014-06-26 13:50:59 which DOES work, and then FOX Business News at 2014-06-26 13:51:16 which does NOT work. There are a number of channels that will work in WMC, but not in MP. They are all 'copy freely'. Seems to be a MP issue. Any help appreciated.

    Hello jonesdb

Could you please see if you can reduce the size of the zip file? I'm only on a 10 GB cap so 42 MB is quite a large download. I suspect there are old/large TsWriter log files in there that could be taken out. Please keep the most recent two if you can...

I was just getting ready to post a very similar posting, but thought it'd be weird to have two Ceton threads one after the other. Maybe related?

I have the same issue - some channels tune, some don't. Doesn't appear to be an issue with the card, as the channels show as copy freely in the Ceton diagnostic.

    Here's what I did:
    • Stopped TV Server
    • Made sure all cards in the Ceton 6 PCIe were status STOPPED
    • Cleared all logs
    • Start TV Server
    • Tune to channel 800 ESPNHD - no problem. Stop.
    • Tune to 760 DESTHD - gives "Program/Channel not found".
    • Tune to 800 ESPN - still works. Stop.
    • Tune to 120 BBCA - gives "Program/Channel not found"
    • Checked that all cards are again STOPPED in ceton diagnostic
Attached is the TVServer.log, MPIPTVSource.log and the relevent parts of the Ceton log, in case that helps. Let me know if you'd like additional log files. TVService-error.log is empty.

FYI, this is running TV Server 1.7.0.0 with the UPnP patch from a while back to help card detection.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Sure. Thanks for looking. Reduced logs attached.
    Thanks, that's perfect. (y)

So, the CableCARD is trying to send you a message. My guess is that your CableCARD may not be properly authorised/activated. This is happening as soon as you load the tuner - even before TV Server tries to tune the channel.

Immediately after that it looks like the tuner is disconnected and reconnected... or redetected for some reason... while TV Server is trying to tune the channel. That's odd. I'm not sure whether to read into that any further.

At this point it doesn't look like it.
When did you [last] scan your channels in?
If possible could you please try a rescan and see if those channels start working. My suspicion is that one of the key tuning parameters - the program number (AKA service ID) - has changed for some channels, and the symptoms you're seeing are the result.

I did a re-scan a few days ago when I saw some were not working. Lots of channels added, some updated. Or do mean the whole delete-all-channels-and-scan-again approach?

Does this mean that the channels you're having problems with were working and then at some point stopped working?

Well, you'll get best/cleanest results by deleting all and rescanning. However if you delete channels then schedules also go... so it's a bit tricky.

It concerns me that lots of channels were added. Usually most channels should be updated, and only a few added. If many were added it suggests the scan might not have had enough time to complete, or Comcast made lots of changes, or possibly you're in an area where SDV is used... or something else. It's hard to say anything for sure without logs and snapshots of your channels from before and after the scan.

I see what you are saying, but I'm not sure it is making any sense. I'll try going through the authorization process again, but remember there is no problem running under WMC. All channels I am entitled to play fine, just not in MP. Any other thoughts on where to look.
I looked at the milhouse logs and agree that it looks like a re-scan is necessary. I've noticed that I need to do it periodically with Comcast as they seem to be always making changes and it needs to be done for each tuner individually....sort of a pain, since it is all the same data just being duplicated for each tuner. Would be nice to be able to group the tuners for that purpose. It is not unusual for me to get 30 or more new channels on a re-scan, with the rest seeing updates. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 passes to get it correct.

The authorisation thing stands out like a sore thumb but I can't be sure that is the cause. I really need logs showing further examples of failed tune requests in order to make any sort of educated comment or suggestion.

You shouldn't have to rescan each tuner... unless there is something peculiar to Ceton drivers/hardware/firmware that requires it. From a TV Server perspective you just scan with one tuner then link the new channels to the other tuners (to tell TV Server that the tuners are capable of tuning the channels):
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...Server_Configuration/03_TV_Channels/2_Mapping
    1. Select tuner up top.
    2. Select all [unmapped/unlinked] channels on the left that the tuner can tune (which in your case should be all of them).
    3. Click ">>".
    4. Repeat 1..3 for all the Ceton tuners.
    5. Done. :)
Should be faster than rescanning. :)

That doesn't sound... right. Certainly that isn't what I expected when I designed and wrote the code. If you're taking 3 or 4 passes to get it correct that might point to SDT/VCT timeout being too low.
Having said that, I did notice on the test system I had access to that I could scan repeatedly and still get 1 or 2 new channels each time... which weren't actually new. Something not quite right perhaps; difficult to troubleshoot.
In short: one scan should be enough.

    Regards,
    mm
