Put the .dll in your process/plugins folder, then run Configuration.exe to enable and set up the resolution you want to change to, and you're off to the races.

cool, i always wondered why MP doesn't support this, since it actes like a DirectX game, it "should" support it.

It does do this if you choose hardware full screen, just not if you are not usign this option.

Jadz, this is a very cool plugin, I'll try it tonight.

My HTPC has the tvset hooked to tvout (svideo), but sometimes I'd like to send MP to vga that is connected to the projector. TV set is used as main screen and I use only the MCE remote.

Let say I'll use your tool to set output to the projector. Then I go back to the original config so I can use MP on tv again.

But in that way MP starts always switching to the projector, is that right?

Maybe associating a my programs button with a command line to restart MP to the config could be the solution.

As you can see I'm pretty confused, could you help me?

I don't fully understand what you are trying to do. Why wouldn't you have your PC setup to be cloned on the VGA and the TV out, so that it works with either the TV or with your projector?

Perhaps if you tried explaining the situation again I would understand.

Cause my tv (waiting for a yet to come High Def LCD) is running 800x600, since it's still a 4:3 old tv.
My projector instead is a 16:9 (940 by 540 pixels) so I need to change res to have optimal results.

1)Start MediaPortal
2)Startup Utility Plugin changes resolution to 940 by 540, sending out to VGA
3)Use MediaPortal for a while
4)Decide want to watch on TV instead of Projector
5)Switch to 800x600, sending out to TV
6)Use MediaPortal on TV for a while...

Thats what you want to do?

jadz, will you make a patch for it to be integrated in MP?
having every little options scattered over as a plugin would not be nice and easy.

I do understand the need for it during initial development so users can easily test.

I can try to make that would add into the Configuration.exe tool, which would at least allow for better timing on the resolution change.
