Change STBs now MCE replacment won't work (1 Viewer)

I have used the MCE Replacement Plugin for some time now and it worked great.

Until that is, I tied to change the my setup from using my old STB that has stopped working correctly.

So I am trying to setup my Dish 311 stb to work with media portal.

The problem that I am having is that I can not seem to get the MCE Replacement plug in to work at all now.

I had been using v. 1.0.3.1 of the plugin and I tried to just re-map the ir commands for the number buttons.

During the IR leaning process it seemed to work, i.e. the plug in would report that the command was leaned successfully. But it would not change the chaneles on my dish 311 stb when I tried to test it.

So I tired updating the plug in to v. 1.0.4.1 and now I can not even get it to learn any commands. I also tried the built in codes for a dish 301 but that did not work for me.

If any one has any ideas to fix this I would be forever greatful!

My Setup:

MCE usb blaster / ir receiver
Windows Xp pro w/sp2 (and I just ran windows update)
Media Portal v. 0.2.3

Make sure to reboot your HTPC after fiddling. Esp. after removing and attaching IR blaster.

(This is from own experience - some simple answers are very valuable sometimes)

I did try the M$ fix (ie rebooting the computer).

Thanks though it never hurts to go over the simple stuff.

Well I have made some progress. Now I can get the channels on my stb to change in the MCE replacement plugin test mode, but not in media portal.

i.e. When I click on the external channels button then hit the test button what ever channel I chose works.
But when I get back in to mediaportal and try to change the channel there nothing happens.

There is a bug in that version of MCE Replacement Plugin.

I'll be releasing an updated version very soon ... Sorry for the trouble.

I was going crazy trying to get it to work.


If I setup my media portal from scratch would it change anything? (I was just about to when I read your post.)

Well. . .

I installed the plugin and configured it for my STB. (Should I have removed the old one?)

Again it works great in test mode. But not when I launch Media Portal.

Is there any logs or other information I can provide to help?


Do I need to re-install the driver as well as the plugin?

In my device manager it list "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver" I think that is what it is supposed to say.

ok, this doesn't make any sense, so let me check a few things with you...

You're not using TV Engine 3 are you (TV Server) ?

Have you made the channels External in the TV channel setup?

You can supply the MediaPortal.log file ... that will help me find what's going wrong.
