Channel scan - DVB-C (1 Viewer)

During channel scan I observed that not all channels are discovered automatically, or rather if a channel name has already been scanned, a channel with the same name at a different frequency is not added. Is this intentional?

Environment:
The cable provider delivers three tv-bundles, a small, a medium and a large bundle all delivered free to air. If a channel is not part of a bundle, subscription is optional.
The provider (YouSee.dk) has implemented frequency filters in order to deliver all bundles FTA (free to air). Thus all encrypted/subscription channels are located at lower frequencies, while the same FTA channels are located at higher frequencies.
When MediaPortal scans for channels(I use the transponder list method) it finds the encrypted channels first and inserts them into the channel list. Unfortunately the FTA channels found afterwards are ignored. I was able to add the FTA channels manually, by scanning the transponders(frequencies) manually, however that requires knowledge of all given frequencies.
Is there a workaround for this kind of problem?

2nd thing, the cable provider changes frequencies ever so often. A list of transponders(frequencies) is carried in the Network Information Table(NIT). Would it be possible to have MediaPortal scan the NIT, i.e. when collecting EPG data, to check for changes and suggest channel updates via the user interface(MediaPortal)? I believe it is preferable to doing manual channel scanns every now and then.

Scanning for Yousee DVB-C is indeed a pain with MediaPortal. I also had to do a manual frequency scan of several frequencies to get all the channels.

    Hi folks

It looks like updated tuning details have already been added to MP 1.2.x.

MP 1.2.x should not have problems adding multiple channels with the same name.

Yes, you can scan the NIT. If you know the frequency for one transponder that has a full NIT table then do a manual "search for transponder list" scan - that is an NIT scan.

    Hi,

I also had a lot of problems with YouSee, is there any frequency table I can use for manual scanning?
    Thanks!

Anyone knows the unscrambled frequencies for the following channels:

    MTV
    Discovery
    Animal Planet
    National Geo
    Disney
    The Voice

    Thank you very much!

    Hi somy

According to -->this<-- page you should do an NIT scan starting with frequency 143 MHz SR 6875 mod 64 QAM.

    To do that in MP:
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Go to the scanning section for your DVB-C tuner.
    3. Select "use advanced tuning options".
    4. Select "search for transponder list".
    5. Enter frequency 143000.
    6. Enter symbol rate 6875.
    7. Select modulation 64 QAM.
    8. Scan! :)

If you still don't find the channels then please let us know.

I would rather say: No matter if it works or not, let us know the result. Last time I tried this (in 1.1.3 a few weeks ago) it did not find all channels either, which is why the frequency list was needed in the first place.

Yesterday I tried to manually scan frequencies one by one, and I made a table of found channel for each freq:
Overview of YouSee DVB-C tuning result in Frederiksberg « Mai Sun's Blog

In total I found 62 TV channels, but there are still many channels missing.

    See this:
    YouSee DVB-C Frekvensoversigt (København)

Seems like the ones you are missing are in 730MHz.

But then again... why the heck do all channels not show up when we do a full scan?
I am in the Yousee Nordjylland area, so the XML posted earlier worked fine for me, but it actually does not include 750MHz, which is why it does not include all channels in your area (CPH).

Just tried 750, nothing found there......
I also tried this 730 as described here: jamesoft.dk » Ny YouSee Kanaloversigt, nothing found either.
To me, it seems that Denmark.YouSee.Global freq list is not complete.

Just tried this, and it found 4 additional channels, but I don't know which freq are they from......
I have 66 channels now, but still far away from complete

Sorry. I was very confident about that. I really hate Yousee sometimes when they move their channels around for no obvious reason.
