hmm.. not a very busy forum :)

I have decided to go with ipaddresses on the client side.
Looking at the etherrealtrace I see that my client tries to initiate a ms-sql udp "connection". First with source port 1537, dest port is ms-sql (1434).

..y.x......E..E.w.%.........k.........c.o.X.ServerName;
TEST-740C33B95F;InstanceName;SQLEXPRESS;
IsClustered;No;Version;
9.00.2047;

This is the reply. The client then tries from a new source port with dest port ms-sql. pretty much the same reply each time. sourceport is incremented with one up to sourceport 1554.

I have tried setting "enable netbios over tcp/ip" (without knowing if this will help).
Also added (in /windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts):
192.168.0.107 TEST-740C33B95F

Anybody who can help me??? Please!

ARGHHH!!!!

I think I'll just go back to old media portal 0.2.1.0 which only crashes once a day... :)

After reinstalling from ghost.
Iknow have new strange problems.

Now the manual stream test doesn't work. No audio/video.......

Using Media portal 0.2.0.0 with SVN 2006-11-15 and TVengine 2006-11-15 + plugin.
setup SQL server acordingly to wiki. tested with SQL... manager... something.

Look good.

One thing I see is that TvServer setup lists my fireDTV card as analog with some new options as to using cable or antenna.... Has my computer gone NUTS!????

I even pulled power cord to get a reset of EVERYTHING....

Any ideas?

Same problem here..

I have the same problem.

I have a server (also running client) and a client connected to the server via 100mbit TP net.

The local client is fairly stable, the one running of the net though is not, changing channels often result in client stop and windows say it's "not responding". Even just watching, doing nothing result in the same crash.

I can watch the same stream on the localhost and via the net, the localhost keep running fine, while the net just stop. I have to kill the client, and reconnect to the stream.

have not noticed any problems using vlc via net. (now I have, see next post)

I've just encountered what might be the problem, I changed to a HD channel om the tv-server, vlc started using 100% cpu and was dropping frames, so I changed back to a SD channel, but vlc was still using almost 100% cpu, then I notive the message window was outputing the following (many lines per second):

Could this be related ?

EDIT:
running VLC on the server side gives the same errors though.

EDIT2:
Can't really say if it's related, running MP on server side has no problems with these errors, running via the net did crash within a minute on this stream, but I killed MP, restarted and reconnected to the stream with MP, now it's been running fine for about 10 minutes.

How do I test the TV server using VLC? I'm getting audio stuttering from Mediaportal (using the TV Server plugin) and want to know if the VLC client has the same issue. I've tried File > Open Network Stream but don't know what the correct URL is.

rtsp://[server_ip]/stream1

[server_ip] must be replaced by the ip adress of the server, if it's on the same computer use 127.0.0.1

i can't get VLC to connect to the streams using the last 2 SVN builds.
even though the server has been set to timeshift that channel... VLC just doesn't connect.

was working fine on previous builds though
